Ok, hard to focus on the keyboard
Hard to say enough, or anything at all about a Vivid Yellow Internally Flawless Emerald Cut- this one especially.
Step cuts are very rare in Vivid Yellow- Especially in this size..
The facet pattern is so very simple- yet it accomplishes everything you want, if you're a step cut lover.
There's always going to be part of a step cut that's.....inequitable, in a sense- in the way it plays with the light.
At the ends of the stone, the light gets bounced around quite a bit- causing something similar to what a lot of radiants exhibit beautifully- crushed ice.
The middle of the stone is like deep water- with ripples.
You can focus in the large facets with your eyes- and they constantly switch from darkness to color.

Really a statement piece.
There's the remnants of an inscription inside
"With (illegible three or four letters)ove

The BVLGARI tradestamp was cut much deeper- and on a part of the shank where it did not wear away

When I was examining the diamonds in the setting, they struck me as "older"- not old mine or transitional- they seem to be well cut diamonds from 25 years ago.
Tables slightly larger than the current well made well cut stones you see being cut nowadays- and all over the world.

That's amazing!  And WAY out of my league, but wonderful eye candy.  Can you say how you connected with this stunning ring?

Wow!!!  Definitely out of my league as well (and at the moment wouldn't fit a single finger of mine lol) but damn... that is a beautiful sigh to see!

I was just in the right place at the right time- in 1976 Grin

Seriously- over the years we've made some amazing friends.
Any business relationship needs to involve gain of some sort for both.
What I learned over the years was that it was possible to integrate that vital aspect, yet keep in mind that the time we spend together is time spent. Why not spend it with friends?
So, if you screw people, you're going to be peeing in the pool you're swimming in.

I always try to make sure everyone is happy ( both the people we sell to, and those we buy from)- even if things don't go exactly to plan, which rarely happens anyway...heheh

Can't see the images because the firewall at work cuts them out, but only based on the stats it sounds like a bargain - if one can call anything that costs half a million a bargain.

David - Bulgari in Italy were searching for and acquiring pieces to celebrate their sesquicentennial last year, and may still be interested in something like this. I can probably get hold of the curator of the show, if you are interested.

David, that ring and diamond are exquisite, but what I love is the quote about screwing people being equivalent to peeing in the pool you will swim in.  I've heard other versions like what goes around comes around, burning bridges, etc., but never this, and it is a principle I totally agree with, and it is so uncommon in the jewelry business.  Most jewelers just want to makee that one sale and dont care about how they do it, they just want to sell.  Anyway, thanks for the photos and the new quote.
Cheer! Lishkare  (I just found out today I might be in NY in a few weeks.......keeping my fingers crossed............will keep you posted)

Oh, I forgot to mention, this in some ways looked similar to an Ashoka cut and very slightly like a longish Daussi to me.  Does anyone else see any of that?

Did I mention that I am the curator of the Italian Bulgari show? If you send it to me, I'll let you know if we're interested. If not, I'll get it right back to you in oh, say.... 25 years?  Grin

A truly exquisite diamond!

I found out more about the history of this remarkable piece.
Our friend, who is a remarkable diamond cutter, bought the piece intact.
He's very unique in that he's more of a "boutique" cutter.
A "small" operation- whereas many of the cutters are massive companies.
He believes it to be from the '50s.
The entire piece- diamond and ring, are BVLGARI

Our friend removed the diamond from the ring, and recut it- more accurately repaired it, to upgrade it to an Internally Flawless.
I'll have better photos, and a video posted today.
