Here's the 1.02 graded K by EGL.
In this photo it looks fairly white- bu it's the fluorescence doing that.....

Now look at it in light that has a smaller UV content.....

Gorgeous ring! The Daussi rings always appeal to me. I'm going to have to have one sooner or later. I think that's worked its way to the top of my wishlist.

I love the square shape. Beautiful.

Hey David,

Does that EGL "K" look a lot more yellow to your eyes, or is my screen playing tricks on me...

That is such a huge difference. Chameleon? I guess not but it sure has that quality.

Yes, it looks waaay yellow for a K color to me Annie!
Just another example of how wacky non GIA grading can be!
The color change is due to the strong blue fluorescence.
Anytime I hit the stone with a bright light the fluorescence makes it look colorless!

That's lovely. I'd want to see more pics though. Is there enough contrast between the sides and the centre in every light? I love the single claw on the clipped corners, it really brings out the shape of the stone.

The Asscher: I took that photo about 2 months ago. The ring is not here.
I just called Daussi, who were just about closed....so I could not get exact specs....

The center is about 3/4ct.
it's a light yellow- probably with an EGL report calling it "Fancy Intense Yellow"
The funny thing about the EGL reports....when they call it a K, it's like a fancy light yellow.

When they call it Fancy intense yellow it's like a K........ Evil

Well, I love it.  I'd like one with a +-2ct center one day.  Oh, to dream . . . .

Well, it's a Fancy Intense K. So what's wrong with that? Look at how many people like Special K.

A valid point my desert dwelling friend.
How rediculously narrow minded of me - I forgot the "Special K" aspect to this!

Special K... good one! So, if it does NOT have a culet, is it a cutlet?

I promise more Asscher shots this week!

I think that "the culet" -as a subject- can't be brought up too often in a discussion of diamonds. The culet is a very important part of a diamond's cut.
Remember older stones had more open culets.

The reason was that technology had not risen to the point where cutters could polish a diamond perfectly to a point. Eliminating that one aspect gave cutters a lot more room to make the rest of the diamond how they wanted. All of the other lines don't need to be even if they don't meet at a central point- the culet.

The Daussi cut has certain inherent distinctions.
The culet is one part of it.
Daussi uses the open culet to make gorgeous stones that are fairly shallow, yet incredibly brilliant.
The result is that , in many cases, a Daussi cushion can look 15-25% larger than it's weight.

Here's a look at a few Daussi cut stones- and a more traditional modern brilliant Cushion

These are delightful! Beautiful little cushions. I'd like them as post type earrings with little pink halos. So lovely.

Interesting about the culets. Am I right in thinking they can reflect throughout the stone? I love the old  stones with open culets, just such a distinctive antique look.

Yes Jen!
Look how many times the culet repeats itself in the 1.17ct

Okay, dumb blonde question coming up!   Grin  What do you mean when you say that the culet repeats itself?

Sorry Mikla- my statement was not clear!

The culet's reflection appears many times throughout the stone ( indicated by the brown arrows)
