Hey Cori, it's great to know you're out there in the Big Apple. Great news! Now, please, don't pay any attention to David when he's dealing with me and he starts slamming his head against the desk... I seem to have that effect on him!   Roll Eyes

I hope this doesn't take all of the fun out of the chicken/egg question, but CNN reports:

"Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.  Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

Professor John Brookfield, a specialist in evolutionary genetics at the University of Nottingham, told the UK Press Association the pecking order was clear.
The living organism inside the eggshell would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into, he said.

"Therefore, the first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg," he added. "So, I would conclude that the egg came first.""

47th street...  A good friend from my GIA class put it this way, 47th street is like Diagon Alley from Harry Potter...but for jewelry.  Its so true!  Its an avenue block long, and just full end to end of diamond retailers, wholesalers, jewelry stores, even gemstone and antique jewelry dealers!  The atmosphere is literally magical, especially for those who have never been!  The store fronts offer anything for the general customer as well as those with specific shopping needs!  Single owner stores exist right along side huge exchanges where many dealers all do business from booths inside one large room.

The block is predominantly Jewish so Hebrew is floating on the air at all times!  There is a constant shuffle of dealers in long black coats and tall top hats, and everyone is trying to buy, sell, or bargain right there on the street.  Above and behind the street level stores and exchanges are the office suites where even more deals are made!  Having said all this I must also say that words don't do the experience justice and it should definitely be on everyone's "to do" list when you visit the city!

Alright all, I'm off again! icon_salut

You described it just how I envisaged it. One day I plan to get my butt to NY and will book an appointment to torment David and the DBL staff for a wee while. ( Oh and of course to try on the bling too  Cool ) but sssssh don`t tell him  Evil
