It's been a while since I've been here! There are so many new people that I thought I better re-introduce myself.  LOL...because now I'm the "new one" again! So, I wound up selling my 1,23 Emerald cut I had bought from David so that my son-in-law could buy my daughter the engagement ring she wanted.  LOL..the things we do for our children! Anyway, I literally begged them to call to David, but at 19, they think they know more than me...LOL

On to new sparklies though! I've just been drooling over all the GORGEOUS cushions David has been selling lately, and today I finally bought the E/SI2 .50 loose cushion. For now, it will be a solitaire, but by the end of July, I will have enough to buy a pink halo.  Woo Hoo!

Hey Kati, good to see you again - missed you!

Sorry you had to part with your ring, but great to hear you snagged that gorgeous cushion. I'd love to see its before / after halo pictures if you have time.

Glad you're back.

Thank you, Jen.  I will  be happy to provide the photos when the time comes! I thought about doing the halo now, but there were choices I had to consider outside of diamonds, if you know what I mean.

Hi Kati! Again, congratulations on your great snag.  The little cushion is beautiful... I thought about it myself many times. Your plan to put it inslde a pink halo sounds lovely and I can't wait to see your "project."  hello

Some things haven't changed since you left.  Such as the fact that you will be bothered frequently about the status of your project and then nagged incessantly for photos when it's done.   Grin  Welcome back!

I don't mind sharing what her ring is.  It is a 1.00 ct princess cut in a platinum split shank , halo micro pave setting (hmmm wonder where she got that idea from  Huh?)...I believe the total weight is 1.79.  I hope she enjoys it!!

I'm sure she will.

I think you are wonderful - I'm not sure I'd sell a ring for my son-in-law... (though I probably have another 15 years to get used to the idea)

That was a really nice gesture to sell your ring.  You will enjoy your new cushion though and it will be fun planning on the pink halo.

Look at it this way, OMC,  selling a treasure for your SIL will make sure your daughter is delighted.  Doing the same for a son, is much more risky. Evil

But I agree whole-heartedly, it was a lovely thing to do, Kati.  Something both your SIL and daughter will always remember with delight in your generousity.

I agree with ah2bqat...it's much more risky to do it for your son then your SIL.  I had to think long and hard b4 I actually chose to do it for my daughter especially because they're so young. Fortunately, they're doing great so I'm fine with my decision.

The phrase that springs to mind is "over my rotting corpse."

Then, I'm not know for my selfless generosity! Grin I think that was a really lovely thing to do Kati. Looking forward to seeing your new cushion, too!

At least you have the excuse of picking it up from the air... (though I have to say that some of the most generous people I ever met were Scots)

Yes, we're a warm, generous race really. Except in Aberdeen.

Ever heard the phrase "flag day in Aberdeen?"

It's used to describe a deserted place. Flag day traditionally was once a year, when people went out with charity collecting tins - you got a little paper flag lapel pin if you donated.  Aberdonians were thought to be too mean to donate but didn't want a showing up, so they stayed home.

So, if there's suddenly no one around, we say "where is everyone? It's like flag day in Aberdeen in here..."   Grin  You could apply it to the weightloss thread, for example! Evil
