Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself before I start making posts left and right :-)
I´ve never been a very big fan of diamonds in general but yellow diamonds just make my heart stop. Yellow gold gives me palpitations. The combination brings me back to life.
I´ve seen the most beautiful settings at Diamonds by Lauren. Craftsmanship of that level is what I want in my dream ring, and that´s how I landed here!
I´m on the quest for my dream yellow diamond ring (even if it takes me 5 more years to get my complete ensemble together!)
I´m planning on purchasing my mount first and crowning it with some kind of diamond simulant, probably a yellow moissanite. And then saving up for the yellow diamond of my dreams.
I wish I could do it all at once, but maybe that would spoil half the fun! It gives me something to look forward to!

I look forward to meeting you all and drooling over all the wonderful pieces.
Thanks for having me,
MIA

Hello MIA, welcome. We will enable you like nothing else on Earth, don't worry!

Just one point: you may want to take a slightly different approach and get yourself a "real" yellow diamond, perhaps in W-X/Y-Z before you "graduate" to stronger colours and trade in your first ring. It would be more practical than trying to find a yellow that fits the size and proportions of your setting - finding yellows that are well cut and fairly priced is quite a bit harder than getting colourless diamonds in specific sizes and shapes (and even then...)

Hello MIA,

Welcome, it's nice to meet you.  Smiley   I can't tell you how often I looked on the DBL website in my first month.  (probably more than 5 times a day...   tongue3   I had decided to write down all the rings that I love on a post-it , like my own little wish-list.  I ran out of room too many times, now it looks like a wish-book!  I too love yellow diamonds!  First love was the fancy intense yellow's, but now I love all the shades...from the light pastels of S-T to the very vivid yellow's.  My plan is to eventually accumulate several shades of diamond rings no matter how long it takes!  Grin

As OMC suggested, I love that idea of trading up or "graduating" to another color saturation or size...it allows us to enjoy now and still get our dream ring later!  I'm dreaming of a flower lately...what's your dream ring?

Giselle  : )

I second that motion:  the lower colors are nice to start with and the setting can be designed to make the diamond look more yellow (i.e. 18 Kt yellow gold).  Having white gold or platinum or white diamonds around it can bring out the color, even in the lower stones, just like the ring you posted in another thread.

I just took a year to build my dream ring.  I actually would suggest the reverse.  Buy the dream stone first and build the ring around the stone.

Now I have to second the lower color yellows.  In fact that was actually my dream ring (U-V to FLY in range).  I have a very lovely Y-Z radiant cut diamond that really confused jewelers into thinking it was darker than it is.  Even side by side with a Fancy Yellow at Tiffany it is tough to see the color difference.

I recently reset her from a simple solitaire to a bezel set and I am more in love with my ring than ever.

With the great trade up policy here you could always start light and work up.

Anyway I want to say welcome!  I hope you are able to find your dream ring sooner than you think.

I also have a Y-Z radiant that is set with 18 kt Yellow gold.  The color looks more saturated with the yellow gold.

Have we seen this one?

Just wanted to add a larger photo of my ring in 18K Yellow and White Gold to show you how it looks.  I've seen it look even more yellow but this was not in direct sunlight.

I think this will go down in history as one of the DBL classics. I have seldom seen a bezel so well balanced and fitting the overall design.

Thanks *blushing*

When I described this ring and how I wanted it to be made, I did have a vision for it.  The execution of this ring went WAY beyond anything I could have ever dreamed.  They took my ideas and made it perfect in a way that shocks me to this day.  With the summer sun I've spent a lot of time looking at her and this setting.  I really would tell anyone who considers a bezel to go for this one Smiley

Hey Mia!  Welcome to the (diamond) crazy house.  We will enable at will and whim.  Still, I agree with the earlier diagnoses.  Buy a lighter yellow diamond and trade up to what you ultimately want.  DBL trade up policy is insanely good.  You may find that the setting you love today won' really 'go' with your ultimate stone.  Here, there is some leeway to play and define your ultimate ring.

Sorry, threadjack not intended. But, you can see that a Y-Z has nice color to it, and when set in 18 KT yellow gold, the color appears to be even more saturated.

We have no hand shots of it either? Wink

Y-Z stones are a great value IMO.  Of course we can give you all the advicewe want but you have to be happy with it in the end Smiley

Daf, that stone looks like a FLY, more saturated than most Y-Z's...did you ever post pictures?  I'd love to see how you mounted it. Smiley

You guys make me blush... really.  I obviously love her and I wasn't even into bezels until Mrs. M started talking more about them.

I admit DAF I am jealous of your yellow collection you have already.  That stone is just a great addition.

It's set very classically.  And, due to David's large fingers, it looks small, but it isn't.  I find it funny that a good deal of the population has never seen a yellow diamond in person.  They seem so regular to me.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. Smiley
I´m such a push over, you´ve already convinced me to find a lighter yellow and work my way from there. Those pics of a YZ are nothing like I could have imagined!!
And that bezel setting posted? OMG that´s heaven!
Actually my ideal ring for a long time was one of the tiffany bezette yellows. I just adore them. But lately I´ve found myself thinking that if I´m finally going to get my yellow I want something a little bit more sparkly, flashy....blingy, I guess.
I only wear yellow gold because it looks better on my olive complexion and I´ve definitely decided that I need some of those beautiful claw prongs. I can´t look at them enough.
I´m not really sure right now which way to go. I love three stone rings and yet since I decided to forgo the engagement ring back when I got married, I kind of feel like I´d love a beautiful solitaire  4 that i can one day give to my daughter.
The only thing I know is YELLOW! YELLOW!

What a coincidence Mia, my first love was the "T....."  bezet yellow diamond ring too.  Loved it's simplicity and everyday appeal.  That was the day I found DBL and noticed that they had the same look for far less!  I now wear it everyday...  yahoo .   It's undeniable  though, the more I see the many beautiful designs that David has on his webpage, the less "understated" I want to be.  I have a halo and a three stone diamond in my future...I just know it!   devildance

Now don't you worry...just take your time looking and the one that makes your heart "sing" the most will shine through eventually.  Don't worry about gettting the "perfect" ring...because their all "perfect" in their own way!  And of course, over time, we both might have that halo and three stone rings that sparkles and flashes bling all around!!!     (Looking and dreaming is half the fun!)  party-smiley-052

Hi Mia and welcome.  Now the fun starts...lol. Everyone 'round here loves idea of newbies getting on board with their first purchase. It's a sickness I tell ya...a real sickness.  Wink

Oh and BTW....clgwli...that hand shot is beautiful. I agree with OMC..that's a classic alright.
