hi, thanks for the welcome!

I'm waiting for a 1.52 M SI1 pear with faint blue fluorescence, set as a pendant with a baguette on the bale.  Excited? I'll say! I cannot wait to see this. I've really enjoyed the DBL experience so far, its been fun and naturally, has made me start thinking about other projects, other little sparkly things I can't live without etc.

I have a confession though -   I have never seen a yellow diamond in real life (you don't get stuff like that where I live!) so I've been watching the website and the movies here with interest. Veeeeeeeery tempting! I have a horrible feeling that this forum is only going to make my diamond cravings worse. Grin

Anyway, I'm hoping to have my lovely juicy pear very soon, will post pics when I do!

Nice to meet you all.

Please post pictures once you get that beautiful pear Smiley

kleinkath, you're scaring me!  laugh (actually, you're scaring my husband - I'm comfortable with the idea of  more diamonds!) Am starting to dream about yellow diamonds. When I close my eyes at night I can see them, usually set in a halo! laugh
Will post pics of the pear, or maybe David could put some pics up when it's ready, if he has time. Then I can have a sneak preview and you can see a photo that isn't blurry, upside down or covered by my thumb. I think David has more of a knack with diamond photos than I do. To say the least!

Welcome!!!!!!! Oh yellows are killer.  Around here, and I think for the most part, you won't see a yellow diamond.  I cringe when places say their "M-N" or what ever have you are "yellow".  HOG WASH! They look NOTHING like a yellow diamond.

I can't wait to see your pedant! 1.52 carats?!?  hello2 that's going to be sweet!

welcome Jen!!!
I could not be happier that you've joined the group!

Project Status:
We've picked an awesome .17 baguette, which is generously wide bottomed. Like me.

Our girls and guys are on it!

The .17 baguette sounds just lovely. I think this is going to be a killer (although to be fair, I haven't seen anything here that wasn't!). It's a late Christmas / birthday gift from a (very!) good friend and I'm so excited about seeing it.

I went to a local mall this morning, to see if I could track down some yellows to try on, just for fun. A whole mall of nothing but jewelry stores and I found 2 yellow stones. One sad little princess cut, with no sparkle and one round, looking sorry for itself in the ugliest setting you ever saw. Both were under half a carat, and priced to make your eyes water. I decided to pass!

Think my next project will be a yellow something or other though! You guys have inspired me.

Hi Jen!   hello  Welcome to CDI - lovely to have you on board and thanks for sharing your sparkly project.  I'm looking forward to pics already!

We refer to the malls as 'mauls' when it comes to jewellers!  If you are loving the colored diamonds (or diamonds in general for that matter!), you simply couldn't be in a better place.  You may have gathered that there are many hardcore diamond addicts here - if there were a better place to be, we'd all be there instead!   Grin

Hi DJ,
I have found the spiritual home of coloured diamonds, for sure! I still love the maul though - not to buy, but just to reassure myself that I can do way better here!

LOL!  I completely understand!  I too love to look in all the jewellers - it certainly serves as a wake up call, huh?!  I used to work in a couple of 'maul' jewellers so I know many pitfalls from both sides of the counter and I am fully convinced that we have diamond mecca right here!  Delighted customers even make pilgramages to DBL!  One day I too will make the journey........ I was soooo tempted to visit to pick out my pear in person! I have family in NYC and it would have been a fun trip, could have gone on pilgrimage and caught up with the folks at the same time (probably in that order, too).

Do you mean sort of like this one but with a pear instead of a heart?

Welcome to the forum MM.

Yeeeeeeeessss!!! Just like that, but with a pear (oh, and white gold)! That is gorgeous. Thanks for posting this pic, and for the welcome.

I am ridiculously and childishly excited about this pendant and my friends, co workers and family are getting a little bored hearing about it. They also have this idea that it will cure my diamond cravings. They don't understand addictions, clearly.

Welcome Jen!  Very excited to see your lovely pear.  I have an M color diamond that I love very much.  It is so white, I could barely believe it when it was appraised at an M.  You will love it, I am sure~
Here is my M...

yes, I'm in the UK - Scotland. Where are you DJ??

CaratHead - that is one gorgeous ring. The M looks very white and the rubies are divine .   Am really excited to see my M, because it looks such a lovely warm colour in the pictures I've seen so far.

I live in Holland now but I am originally from Darlington - not that I brag about that, believe me!  When I go home, I go to my sister's in Harrogate which seems so much more civilised!  I love Betty's so very much!

DH and I honeymooned in Edinburgh.  I've spent many weekends in Scotland and have always loved it up there.  Dundee swimming pool is AWESOME!  With a slide that comes out probably 10ft ABOVE the diving pool, the last thing you see before shooting out into thin air is a sign that says, 'Danger, Deep Water'!  Brilliant!

From another diamond obsessed individual, I too would like to welcome you!  Sounds like your diamond obsession is getting off to the right start with that loooovely pear pendant!   I think it is more than safe to say that most of us on this forum often have diamonds dancing in our heads at night.   No sooner than receiving one diamond project from David, we are already off to conquer our next diamond project from him.    Once you receive your pendant, you will immediately see why!   I would say that if ever you decide to get a yellow diamond,  I consider DBL to be the Colored Diamond Capitol of the World.    There is nothing that he can't get when it comes to a colored diamond and his prices definately make it possible to do so!!!    So glad you found this site.  We have lots of fun here!~Ronda

Ronda,
for some reason, this forum is making me want a yellow diamond in the most urgent way!! I never thought about it before, now I think about nothing much else... I keep seeing yellow radiant earrings in a white halo. I'm planning to give up work and go back to school in 2009, so it's going to be a lean time on the diamond front then.  Sad I therefore have to pack in as many projects as I can manage while I still have a salary. laugh

That's the responsible approach, right?? laugh

DJ - You can get the ferry here from Holland and it docks very near where I live - we could establish an international CDI get together tradition! Anyone else in the UK?

That is wonderful you are going back to school!  Hey, anything to increase your salary and apply it to you diamond purchasing! Wink  Speaking of radiant halo diamond earrings..... you should check out Graceful Lions earrings!   They are Gorgeous!

That would be really neat if you and Denise could meet someday.  Such a small world!  Gotta love the internet for some of the people you meet along the way!
