Oh yes the asschers look gorgeous and I love their geometric cut. I suppose the bigger the stone then the better this shows.
Good morning anyway. It`s almost 10am here in the UK and after yesterday`s torrential rain, the Sun is shining.
I saw a neat idea in a magazine yesterday and you know how we all collect earrings, rings, bracelets etc over the years, some as gifts, others as current trends in jewellery and then we fall out of love with them and they hide unused in our jewellery box ? Well this woman had a jeweller remove all the stones such as amethyst, ruby, small diamonds, tourmaline, turquoise etc, then had the jeweller make her a wide gold cuff and mount the stones into it in a kind of haphazard way. The finished item looked fabulous and was a neat way of using the jewellery and keeping the memories of gifts or occasions close to her. I`m seriously thinking of doing a similar thing. A kind of family jewellery diary !

Diamonds are like people, put them under a microscope and you`ll always see a flaw but hold them up to the Sun and each and every one is beautiful.

Thatīs a wonderful idea Awestruck.  It is nice and sunny here in Portugal too  at 10 am too.
I once saw the most beautiful clasp on a friendīs pearl necklace, it was also made up out of stones that had come out of pieces of unused jewellery.  Topaz, amethyst, a few diamonds and emeralds and rubies, some small, some larger and the clasp was quite a large one. It was absolutely beautiful.

Oh that's so weird Awestruck!  I used to work with a lady who did EXACTLY that!  The cuff was a good 2" wide and had lots of bezel set gems throughout a textured finish.  The edges were wavy too.  Very, very cool and very, very heavy too!  It was one heck of a piece from some very so-so original items.  If you have lots of jewelry you are not wearing this is a FANTASTIC idea!

Welcome Awestruck... I'm so glad that you've joined the forum!  And, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Your life must be terribly changed these days.  I was widowed when I was 44, and it was quite a shock, so I truely understand what you are going through. Like you, I never got the gem of my dreams (even my "engagement" ring was made form a stone that had been my own mother's).  But, Unlike you, I didn't have wonerful friends and advisors at CDI to help me find the diamond of my dreams.  So, have a grand time looking for that PERFECT ring, you're in good hands.  Also, you desve it!  hello

One of my friends,(she is in her 60s) has a neat memory ring: She took the engagement ring from her first husband (deceased) her second husband (still married) and her mother and had a ring created where the 3 stones form a triangle, with the smaller melee as a base....

Hi Awestruck!  Welcome!  So sorry about your loss.  Sad  The idea of a "memory" ring sounds fantastic.  I'm sure you will receive lots of wonderful ideas on here!
