Hi everyone!  I'm a LONG time lurker here, and have admired all the sparklies at DBL for years!  I'm excited now that I'm able to make my first purchase, but it's sooooo hard to choose just one thing!! LOL

Hi Pinklady!  Actually I'm really torn as to what to buy!!

I've wanted BOTH diamond studs AND a radiant yellow ring for sooo long, but I want to redo my kitchen too, so I'm being firm with my budget, and it dictates only one sparklie purchase!  The problem is I have such a longing for a radiant yellow!!  But, I really don't want to spend more than 6k on this purchase, and most of the Yellow Diamond rings I like are in the 12-17k range!  Grin  So...the 1.83ct studs are really calling my name, but I'm just not sure about the I1 even though I know everyone here raves about how DBL's I1's are amazing.  I have a 1.53ct diamond in my Ering, and it's a VVS2 Ideal Cut, so I'm kinda worried that I wouldn't be happy with I1.  I just don't know!! LOL

All opinions will be gratefully received!!

DBL does have a return policy, if you get the studs and don't love them, you can send them back.

Hello and welcome!

Nice dilemma to have - hope you find something you love. Just a thought - the trade up policy could get you to the 17k yellow if you get a less expensive one to start with?

Good luck finding your perfect sparkly (or learning to love your existing kitchen? LOL)

LOL I gotta agree with cherrypie Smiley Do you want a sparkly new kitchen OR a sparkly Smiley

Weclome to the forum!!

I have a pair of I1, and for the LONGEST time I would NOT buy under VS2... I have eyes like a hawk.  With my earrings, one I can see ONLY with a loupe the white feathers, the other has ONE black spot but near the edge and you can't see it unless you stare at it.  And you know many say people won't be looking at your ear that close (or at least they shouldn't).

Another thing to remember is that if you buy a $6k ring, you can ALWAYS upgrade it for the $12k ones you like.  I for one have taken up this option a few times.

I would say go for a yellow something since you own a white something... SPEAKING OF... Can we see pics???  Grin

LOL! I want to win the lottery so I can have BOTH!  Grin

You make a good point about getting something different, and I really hadn't thought about the trade up policy that all of you lovely enablers have mentioned!  Evil

Oh and I'm always happy to post my pictures!  Here's my current e-ring....

I also want to say THANKS for the welcome and information everyone!!

Another question.....the stud earrings say they are a Sam Spade special...I see threads that talk about him as being a cut guru and I'm wondering if that means the 1.83ct studs will have a sparkle over and above most??

Thanks!  Smiley

Welcome!  And what a gorgeous ring!!!

I can tell you that if I had the cash right now those 1.83s would already be gone.  I absolute faith that David would not stock them unless they were knockouts.  I also am of the opinion that I1 is good in studs.  No one gets that close to your ears, and it keeps the cost down.  The price for that pair is incredible!

Huge welcome to you mparkins!  It's always great to have more diamond lovers here.  Please feel free to jump in anywhere.

Your ering is gorgeous - thank you for sharing pictures (I think you'll fit in quite well here)!

I really like the studs, but if I was thinking about a yellow radiant ring under $6,000, I would pick this guy:

Hi mparkins,
Wow- that's a lovely ring!
Another question.....the stud earrings say they are a Sam Spade special...I see threads that talk about him as being a cut guru and I'm wondering if that means the 1.83ct studs will have a sparkle over and above most??

Thanks!  Smiley

Your question is a very good one.

These studs are really well cut.
To me, that means they have great life and sparkle. They look symmetrical, and project a size you'd expect to see in a near 2 carat total weight pair. They pick up flashes of sparkle even in dim lighting.

Definitely better than what you'll find in many retail environments.

Then there are sellers claiming to have "Ideal" cut diamonds.
In many cases, these claims are bluff, in other cases, the diamond meet a standard set by AGS labs.
In my opinion, the cut of these diamonds equals any of those.

Thanks David!  That helps me! Smiley  Unfortunately I've fallen in love with a ring that's sold!  Oh why wasn't this available now!!!

For THIS ring, Never mind the kitchen reno, I'd sell my house!  Grin  But seriously, this has made my heart palpitate so much I think my purchase is going to have to be a Yellow Pear in a Halo!  The studs are beautiful, but I can't stop thinking about this ring!

Welcome mparkins! Love your ER! That's quite a fireball you got on your finger!

new kitchen.... new sparklie...  Tempted  I know where you're coming from. We've been going through a huge home renovation over the past 9 months and oh to think of all the sparklies I could have gotten for the money we have spent so far!

Best of luck making your decision. 6K is a wonderful budget. In terms of the yellow pear halo you posted, I thought CaratHead bought it a few months ago, then traded it in for a pink pear halo. I have not heard that it was sold... if you have your heart set on it, call David to double check. When an item screams to you, make sure it really is sold before you just give up on it.

Best of luck!
