Hi People

Im Tana 26 from Nottingham UK
I have came across your forum a few times when doing google searches and finally thought i would join.
I adore all jewellery not just diamonds  Grin

but of course diamonds are a favorite of mine and i am lucky enough to have a few wonderful rings from my partner (maybe my husband next year  Smiley )
He gave me the most wonderful ice white butterfly diamond ring with black diamond center body for an engagement ring 2 months ago and since then i have been obsessed with getting a few more coloured diamonds .

today i treated myself to a cognac cluster ring which has a large amount of small chocolate brown diamonds as petals and then some smaller yellow diamonds around the center then one larger champagne colour diamond all together making a sparkly flower set in 18k white gold with some small white diamonds on the shank to finish the ring off .

I payed £250 for it (secondhand ) and even though people here in the uk dont really go for brown/yellow diamonds i feel i got this ring cheap as it looks like who ever made it has put hours of thought and work into this ring .

Basically i joined all of you because i would love to know more about these diamonds and if they are natural or  heat treated to this colour.

Hi everyone Thank you all for your warm welcome  Smiley

Here are a few pics of my Engagement ring and the new brown diamond ring  4

This is my Engagement ring it is 1ct of white diamonds and 0.30ct of black diamonds that really twinkle a lot . this ring has so much sparkle !

a more close up shot of it

And here is a photo of my new ring

Here is a close up of the center stone

The stone has come out a little  lighter than it actually is in real life  but it is not yellow looking !
(if that makes any sense  Cheesy )

Apart from the black diamonds this is the only other coloured diamonds i have but i can see myself becoming hooked  Grin
I think i will be adding blue to my wish list  Smiley with some type of butterfly setting as i adore them  Wink

Goodness BK those are statement pieces!!!

Just out of curiosity, where are you going to put the wedding ring?  Will it fit under the butterfly or will you move the butterfly to the right hand?

Were both made for you?

The Butterfly ring i am not sure about where it came from it was a total surprise and my partner wont tell me  Grin

The flower one i got today secondhand  Cool

Actually i have got a more normal every day solitaire Engagement ring that my partner gave me about 8 years ago . it is 1ct brilliant cut and has a black mark in it but i still love it .
At the time where we live they was not much choice of jewellers and that was the ring he could afford .
The jeweller was honest about the mark in the diamond and gave us a eye glass to see for our selfs.

The ring still has a brilliant sparkle and is very ice white . 4
Me and my partner split up for a while because at the time he said he didnt want children and i knew i did want children.
We got back together after 2 years apart and now have a beautiful son  Smiley
He asked me to marry him again recently and next year we are finally going to get around to tying the knot .

I want to get my old wedding ring re set and wear that one every day!!

Hello Butterfly_Kisses,

Welcome!

Lovely pieces, and you definitely got yourself a bargain with the flower. Very unusual blue (?) gold petals.

Awwww BK what a lovely story!  Thank you for sharing.

OMC - I hope BK doesn't mind me answering but that's black rhodium around the cognacs.   You see it around blue diamonds as well sometimes.  It really makes the diamonds "pop"!  Here's a terrible piccy of it around some blue diamonds.  Soz it looks a bit like tarmac but IRL is lovely!

I dont mind you answering  Smiley

i love the blue heart ring , i really fancy something blue next i think .

Just thought i would show you all the original Engagement ring .
gosh you would not believe how close i came to selling this once i am so glad i did not sell it !!

I am thinking of having it totally re set in white gold or platinum depending on how much that will cost.
Any ides of some  settings would be great .
The wedding ring i like has white and yellow gold in it and is quite fancy so i would want this one to be more modern but still quite plain .

(P.S I hope i dont come across as a show off with my pics but im a photographer for a living)

Now I know why there's no blue diamonds around. You've cornered the market!  laugh

BK - have you taken a look at DBL's semi-mounts page?

And no, you are not showing off, but any tips, tricks and suggestions for taking better pictures of children - er, jewellery - will be noted down avidly by many on this forum.

Hi there! Welcome.

Thanks for sharing your pics - your butterfly ring is amazing. It's so delicate and pretty.  I'm glad you kept the solitaire too! You'd have missed it, I think- it's a lovely ring.

Nice to meet you - I'm in the UK too (Scotland).

Tip 1 for me would be to buy a new camera!!!!   Grin

Honestly BK your photos are astonishing.  Keep 'em coming.   Btw I'm a Brit too!

Do you have a photo of your wedding ring because it's difficult to know what to suggest until you know what it's got to sit next to.  As you said your diamond is nice and white, putting it in platinum or white gold will enhance that even further so a good choice!  Don't worry about the carbon spot in the diamond - if you could only see it with a loupe and the colour is good, it's nothing to worry about.  The most important thing is that you love it.

Are you going to add accent diamonds to your ring or will you keep it as a solitaire?

So many questions ..... sorry!

« Reply #24 on: April 13, 2008, 05:34:35 PM »

Hi B_K!!

I just wanted to pop in here and say welcome. You've definitely found the right place.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures--I especially like the close-up of the flower ring--awesome detail around the center stone.

What type of photography do you specialize in?

I will definitely will be watching closely for your photography "tips".

Best,
djm
