I feel as though I'm at a Diamonds Anonymous meeting...

Let me start by saying I've been oogling David's diamonds and jewelry for many years, iniitally finding DBL on eBay and then finding the website.  I've oohed and ahhed over the pictures and movies, and cracked up when the descriptions became sarcastic, describing "ca-ca" diamonds and diamonds with "boogers" in them.  I found this forum a few months ago, and just read the posts, and finally decided to join because I had a question regarding color saturation.

Anyhooooo...
I've always admired diamonds but did not feel the need to acquire until my now fiance proposed  4.  We shopped together and I was told to pick what I wanted that fell within his budget.  Now, I always thought of myself as a classic-type girl, always thought my engagement ring would be an emerald-cut solitaire (well, maybe with baguettes).  Well, that all changed when I found the ring at the second establishment we went to.  It was a band that had 1.8 cts. of graduated  round diamonds on three sides 3/4 of the way around the ring with very fine milgraining along the edges.  The ring just glowed when the owner's wife modeled it on her own finger.  I was hooked!  There were three diamonds that I had picked out, a marquise and two rounds.  I couldn't decide so we went home to talk about it.  I don't remember the specs on the marquise, but the rounds were  a 1.74 F/VS1/3Ex (recut to be 3Ex)and a 2.21 D/SI2/VG, both of which blew the budget right out of the water.  We went home, talked about the pros and cons of each and the budget.  In the end, he said he wanted me to be happy, and I said I wanted my Forever Ring.  We returned  to the jeweler the next day  and looked at the diamonds again.  The second look confirmed my initial impression that the 2.21 D/VG reflected light back better than the 1.74 F/3Ex.  Plus, with the width of the band, the larger stone actually looked better.  He also bought the matching wedding band (another 1.5 Cts.!).

I've received no less than two compliments a day on the ring, and even had one acquaintance make her way across a crowded ballroom after spying the ring on my finger (perfect lighting, everything was GLOWING), grab my hand, look at me open-mouthed, then back down at the ring.  I'm often asked if it's a Tacori ring (it's not).    I can’t help but look at it during the course of my day, because it’s just so darn sparkly!  And so began my fixation with diamonds…

My interest has turned to fancy color diamonds and I have been salivating over the DBL ones even more.  I’d like to have one of everything, please!  I look forward to chatting with you all and contributing to the forum.  Talk to you soon!

Welcome!!!!  Diamonds can be a bit addicting can't they?  I am dealing with that issue myself of seeing so many pretties and not enough money to buy them Wink

welcome diamonds are forever! It's funny that you found David on Ebay. I did too. I read all his posts because I too was intrigued by his descriptions. I think I even emailed him to tell him so. We bought my ER from DBL because of his amusing descriptions. I am a big EC fan too.
I look forward to your contributions to the forum!

Well, here I can hang with like-minded people.  My fiance, bless his soul, does not understand my fascination obsession with diamonds.  There is a double standard with him, though:  he has a hot rod obsession.  His collection includes a 1960 Corvette, a 1949 Ford F3 Rat Rod (he built), a 1931 Ford Model A, a 1954 Chevy pick-up (in pieces - an estate find), and his most recent acquisition, a 1955 Chevy 210 (think Bel Air without big fins).  If he can buy himself cars, then I can buy myself diamonds.  Plus, diamonds don't require maintenance and parts replacement and multiple garages aren't needed to store them.  It tickles me that something so little can bring me joy.
