Violets Diamonds...

soooooooo...these do exist, and i do believe someone here must own one  ;D

But how rare are they really?

I know of one that is a Violet-Grey...does look quite nice indeed

You never do see them and what prces do they range from, for the violet-grey?

Yes, they do exist, and yes they are rare. Prices vary between very expensive and extremely expensive ($30k/carat and up).

The real "problem" is - in my view - that just like blue, red and green diamonds are trumped by other stones (sapphire, tanzanite, ruby, spinel, emerald, garnet) - violet diamonds are trumped by amethyst, which is literally thousands of times cheaper. A diamond will sparkle more (perhaps - some dark colours aren't very sparkly), but they are generally very small and - again in my view - not as interesting to use in jewellery.

Pink, orange, brown and yellow - completely different story.

Interesting discussion- I both agree, and disagree with OMC.
Yes, other stones provide so much more bang for the buck.
I sometimes have a hard time grasping the concept of a $10,000 .05ct diamond
Yet we've sold very costly blue diamonds in small sizes- clearly there's a market for them.
Then, looking more closely at stones like R3885, I can understand the fascination.
There's nothing else that looks like a diamond.
