BTW- Congrats on your upcoming graduation!

Having never taken a GIA course, I respect those that go for their GG.

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! Interesting about why they use a loupe vs. a microscope!! Maybe you can make a mini microscope into the size of a loupe :) tee he! Kidding :)

Hey Snoop, they do make 25 power loupes  ( as opposed to 10 power)- and stronger I'm sure!

Yeah, one of these days, I'll be brave and buy a stronger one.. But the 10x is scary enough :)

Thanks for enduring my rant everyone, only one more week till diamond graduation! ;)

Congratulations GG on your graduation.

Just thought of something... Can you imagine if we all took this course together? I can see it now...the teacher would want to hang himself!
Think Snooper ripping a diamond out of your hand so she could look at it with her super duper high powered loupe that she kept a secret until classes started. God knows what BR would do...Gemelli would be challenging the teacher on everything that was said and Trinkette would be cracking jokes and passing notes to everyone. EMJ would look at every stone and say "can you see this set in a E-W baguette band with yellow gold double claw prongs?" Joia would make oatmeal raisin cookies for the teacher and we'd throw things at her for being a suck up. Ronda would look in her microscope and after each stone she'd comment: " I see some serious BDS coming my way!!  ROLF!!"  DJ would be conniving to buy everything that she looked at.
I, of course, would be sitting in the back and laughing my head off! :rotflmao:

BR would have a variety of rose gold mounts in a pink attache case, at the ready.
Oh and I would also have bezel set requests, and colored stone halos!

Yeah, all but the Joia part--I kinda embellished a bit here--she truly is one of the sweetest and kindest people on this site. We really wouldn't throw anything at you Joia  :-*. Still friends? (Don't make me send a sad eyes puppy picture your way).

So... I'm going to pick my lab partners.

Let's see...I'll take GL, Trinkette, GIA Girl and Ace.

Ace is great with numbers, so he can do all that, GL is the perfectionist so nothing will get by her, Trinkette will write up kick a$$ lab reports and GIAGirl's Ms Fancy Pants alter ego will intimidate everyone else.
Once again, I'll be their best audience.

We are definitely going to get straight A's--no doubt about it!!!

Me?  A perfectionist?  I don't think so!

Oh, BTW, I just sent you a PM asking for some clarifications. . . ;D

Can I just mention that the last class I took involving a lab was the only one I ever FAILED!  But somehow I think judging sparklies might be a bit more interesting than dead squids.

OK...I didn't want to say it...but you are supposed to find the least hottest guy in the room...there are some exceptions, but usually that is a steadfast rule.  Too late now...

It is fun!  Althought i must admit i'm alittle nervous at the moment...about to find out whether i passed the 5-stone practical exam...i should be calling right about now actually! :-\ ??? :-\ ??? i think I did ok but you never know!  Assuming i've passed, i'll take the written exam tomorrow, which should be fine...then i'll officially be a Diamonds Graduate!  I'll continue with colored stones in January but some people do stop here and just take their Graduate Diamonds certificate and run!  :Exit-Stage-Right: hah i love that smiley.

Anyway... assuming then i pass the 20-stone practical and the written exam, i'll be a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) pretty excititng!  That will be in May for me but classes run year round.

Wish me luck..i'll post again when i've heard the verdict on my practical! :N1Please2HL1:
