Okay, one of our new members has pointed out that we use a lot of abbreviations that take some figuring out so I thought it would be fun and informative to start a list with translations - feel free to add to this as I know I won't get them all:

Family Stuff:
DH  Dear/Darling Hubby
MIL  Mother in Law
SIL  Sister in Law
BIL  Brother in Law

Jewelry Stuff:
RHR  Right Hand Ring
ER  Engagement Ring
WB  Wedding Band
RA  Royal Asscher
EC  Emerald Cut
RB  Round Brilliant
OEC  Old European Cut
OMC  Old Mine Cut
FLY  Fancy Light Yellow
FBY  Fancy Brownish Yellow
FIY  Fancy Intense Yellow
FVY  Fancy Vivid Yellow
GIA  Gemoligical Institute of America

Please add whatever you can think to this or ask a question if we're just confusing the heck out of you!   Grin

Depending on the context, DH can also stand for Damn Husband.

Adding on to Snooper's list:

EJM - evilmailjeep
BRP - bigredpayne (now just bigred, but I'm afraid old habits may die hard)

These two are not abbreviations, but they may be confusing for some:

luvnjewelry - Ronda
DiamondLady - Rhonda

We tend to call them by their real names rather than their screen names.

This is where a 'diamond sneak attack' becomes useful!  This is when you buy yourself a new sparkly but don't tell DH until it's too late to return it!  LOL!  We should abbreviate that to DSA!

Gee DJ, have you pulled a DSA on your DH?!!!  Sounds like you have experience!!  Is there a disgruntled DH board around here?  Wink

Thanks Annie1 for the interpretation. That one had me completely stumped.

Gee DJ, have you pulled a DSA on your DH?!!!

LOL!  Repeatedly Michi!  I guess I should share the story about my new brown asscher ring........

Well, basically, I wanted it BAD.  Really, really BAD.  The kind of BAD where you can't sleep for thinking about it.  So, I played with the numbers and decided I could do it on the DL and not tell DH at first.  My personal motto - it's better to ask forgiveness than permission!

Anyway, as delivery day came nearer, I hatched a plot to break it to him as gently as possible.  I decided to make sure he had a real 'fun' weekend (if you catch my drift) and then send him an email on Monday morning (I should let you know that he works away during the week so this would've given him 5 days to cool off).

So, everything was going to plan and DH had a HUGE grin on his face when I got a frantic call on the Sunday afternoon from a girlfriend asking me to go over and help get her daughter to the ER as she had split open her chin.  I bolted from the house........leaving my email account open with all the details of my latest DSA just a few clicks away...........

There I am at the hospital and my cellphone rings.  DH.  "You got something to tell me?"  I'm like, "No" even though I knew exactly what had happened.  "I didn't read your emails but I see you've sent David a chunk of change for something.  We'll talk about it when you get home."  Can we say BUSTED.

Anyway, when I told him he was so NOT a happy camper.  That smile I had worked so hard to put on his face was no longer beaming back at me!  Basically, I have been put on a tight leash for a while - no more sparklies for me.........and if you believe that it's only because you don't know me too well!!!!  LOL!!!

By the way, it was GL who came up with the 'diamond sneak attack' term.  I just love it so much it is fast going to become part of my language!  GL is also an expert in DSAs!!!

I see absolutely nothing wrong in that approach I tell you. There is no purchase a pink bag from VS cannot cure.

DJ!  That is a hilarious story!!!!

Your brown asscher is gorgeous and I totally think it was worth a DSA.  I just love asschers so much!  So have you been forgiven by your DH?  I assume he's been home to admire the results of your daring and cunning abilities?

Thanks Michi!  Yeah, he saw it this weekend and all he said was, "It's very pretty.  It looks beautiful on your hand."  I think he was scared to gush over it incase it encouraged me!!!  He was really taken with the surprise diamonds though.  Personally, it was well worth a telling off - well, well, WELL worth it!  But really, I have to be good for a while now.......really.......honest....... Grin

I love that story too DJ!  It gives  a whole new meaning to courage and DSA!   Yes....definately get a VS bag!  When my DH sees the VS cataloge ---he asks, ooooh what are ya going to "surprise me with"?    Then I quickly show him something on the DBL website and ask the same!!!!  LOL !

So I took some time this last weekend to explain DSAs to my DH.  He got quite a kick out of it and then fired back, "The only way to put right a DSA is with a SDS."  I looked all puzzled and he said, "Stealth Diamond Sale!"  Gave me a good giggle!
