I`m all for recycling so I thought I`d take a piece of jewellery I hardly ever wore and have it made into something more wearable.
My Mother gave me a large diamond cluster ring way back in the 1970`s. None of the diamonds in it were huge and frankly I thought the setting was too big and ugly and I rarely ever wore it because it looked monstrous on my short chubby fingers and it plucked my clothes. It`s been sitting in my jewellery box for years but had great sentimental value.
My partner is currently working for someone who designs and makes jewellery so I`ve given him the ring to " recycle ".
I`m having a solid cuff made, about half and inch wide, with a frosted finish and the diamonds are being set into it in a kind of a constellation theme. Other than that I`ve left the finer details to the jeweller.
I`m sure my Mother would be pleased I`m having something new made from it and I`ll make sure I post pics when it`s finished. It should be ready next week and I`m quite excited to see the finished item.

How lovely to be able to wear your mother's diamonds. It sounds like a beautiful design and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos.

My DF arrived tonight and guess what he brought with him ?
We`re going away tomorrow and unknown to me he`d asked the jeweller to have my bangle ready so I could wear it on our trip ! Then he wonders why I love him ...
So here it is, rather unbecoming pics because it`s gone 11pm and there`s no light at all but it will give you a vague idea. In reality it sparkles like a night sky and is truly lovely.

Oh Lynne, it turned out beautifully!!  I LOVE it!  He's such a sweet man to ask to have it done in time for vacation.  I hope you enjoy yourself, and stop back in to tell it how it was when you get back.  Smiley

Lynne, that is absolutely beautiful. A contemporary classic piece, just perfect! I'm sure your mum would approve, it's gorgeous!

Really nice detailing - we want photos with sunlight on it, though. I bet the contrast between the satin of the metal and the sparkliness of the diamonds is fantastic.

Also - it must have been a rather stonkingly big cluster, if all that stuff was on one ring!!!

Congratulations, and wear it in the best of health!

Would it be possible to make a ring in that style, and how much would it cost?  I'm sure I saw a ring like that some years ago, a wedding band style set with scattered diamonds.

Hi Carol,
That would be an awesome looking wedding band!
I'd say that in gold, it would start at about $1000, if we scattered diamonds all the way around.
That would be for a reasonable weight ring- so that it would be durable.
If it was a smaller band, I can't imagine we'd use more than about .10ct in diamonds total....the scale of a ring is different than a bracelet- Lynne's bracelet appears to have farily large *( maybe .25-.40) stones in it
I'll bet it would also be awesome in pink gold/diamonds...... Evil

Thanks, D!  I thought the same about pink gold and diamonds - don't tempt me!  However, my silver wedding anniversary is coming up next year...  food for thought.   Evil

I really like Lynne's bangle and I think a ring would be gorgeous too.

Cherrypie, you could have a white, pink and yellow version and stack them! I'd struggle to pick just one. I really like the star points radiating out from the diamonds, it seems to elevate the design into something totally new.

This is definitely getting stored in my brain's jewelry "to do" list!  I love the tri-colored stacking idea!!
