I bet they would not be obvious on the hand.  I am willing to try and find them.   Send it to me David and I will take the challenge.

Take a deep breath now, Nola.

We don't have the measurements on this stone; but if you take a big picture that David has posted here - the one you see the pepper in the best, and now take it from 100% down to 8%, which is still pretty hefty sized.  See how much of that pepper you can see at that size.

David's photography is generally so sharp and clear, and he give us such HUGE images to look at, that it is difficult to put things in the perspective you'd get IRL, even with a 20x loupe.

I'm with GG, I'd love to have D send me the stone when she gets tired of trying to find the pepper.  Grin

I actually did a test similar to this to put into perspective a slight feather near the edge of a radiant cut stone that was graded SI1.  With the 50-100x magnification of the stone in photos, my girlfriend and I couldn't move past one tiny piece-of-paper that was mostly visible from the back of the diamond and only noticeable from certain angles at the magnified sizes.  As we spoke, I had to stop us and put it into perspective.  I cracked open photoshop and set my canvas size to plain letter.  I then zoomed into 2500% to draw the exact measurements of the diamond (it was a radiant in the roughly 5x5 mm range, a bit under a carat in total weight).  I then marked a small path near the corner looking at the GIA plot of the diamond to match the feather as best I could by eye.

Print and squint!

If you're like me and using a 24" flat panel, then you're bound to find some of the photos of diamonds on DBL are very close to the size of a sheet of plain letter.  Mark out the dimensions with a ruler or photoshop up a life-size comparison and you will be amazed.  Points like the pepper are a fraction of a fraction of a millimeter.  [Although I did gasp when I saw the plot and photos!]

This thread surely brought out some strong opinions!  As for me, if the GIA gave this stone an SI1, I'd have to believe that the "pepper" was smaller than pinpricks and not visible with the naked eye.  This stone could be a good value for someone looking for a larger stone without the price tag of a VS1.  David, what is the color grade?

I agree, it is a worthless stone.  Should have been graded I2 with all of those inclusions.  It might be salvagable as a pendant.  Send it over and I will see what I can do. Evil
