These are the same folks who think you have to have a D IF H&A for the diamond to be any good.  Not that I would turn one down if it was given to me  Grin, but I have a good number of diamond rings and I love every one for the stone's uniqueness.  I hope that didn't come out sounding too snotty; what I'm trying to say very ineloquently is that variety is the spice of life.

Great post Mikla!

A pet peeve of mine is how some jewelry stores try to up-sell people by trying to convince people they need to buy H/VS2 and better.

A shopper asks for a 2 carat diamond.
$25,000, they are told...

Can I get one for $12,000?
No that's a piece of junk.

OR-
They are told that anything below H color is a bad diamond

As long as a shallow cut (or an included stone for that matter) looks how I want it to look, I will be happy.  For that reason I don't care about the stats.  I actually prefer a slightly shallow stone, especially in a fancy cut, because they look bigger!

I do care about having accurate stats for comparitive purposes.  In order for me to be an informed consumer, I need to be able to weed out the vendors that are trying to charge me VS pricing for an I stone.  Been there, done that.
