I'm really curious to find out what the "final verdict" is on the pink pear I've got is.

What do you guys think GIA will say about it?

Here are some (slightly better) pictures of it.

My guess is... light brownish pink.. I think it has a tint of brown, maybe a tiny bit orange? Either way I think it's a good idea that you're sending it so you know.

I agree with Snooper, there's a hint of brown in there.  How exciting though!  Betcha can't wait!

I am going to  guess fancy light brownish pink.  If we guess correctly, do we get it???

I say set it just like my yellow pear, but with rose gold prongs.  That would be stunning!!  Speaking from experience with my old faint brown cushion, rose prongs will definitely dramatically enhance the pink color.

How about this...put it in a pink gold bezel, and then dual halo, white closest to the pink, and a outer halo of either pink or yellow?

I think we need more shots...maybe some in the sunlight.  I am going to guess Fancy light pinkish brown, like the oval David had.

I am dying to know what they say...when should we expect it back?   I feel like I have seen pinkish browns and pink-browns or orangy-pink on GIA certs...what is the difference?   david

I think it's like a month turn around, but I don't really know.  Huh?

The photographs are really bad, under normal light, there's no hint of brown in the stone, they only show up in the photographs... probably need to re-set the white balance...  Sad

I'll try to get a daylight shot before I send it off, and I'll re-set the white balance too.   Cool

Well from the pics, it looks like you have it on a brown background. So that must be what it is picking up! That would be soooooo cool if it is a pure pink!

GL's pendant it the perfect destination for a pear cut! I love that setting. There's something about pears that screams 'pendant' to me. Or earrings, if I could afford two! Grin

There's also a rather stunning pink pear in a white diamond halo that I think used to belong to Carathead. That setting is gorgeous with a pink centre. Beyond belief! I love that too.

Whatever the GIA report says (sorry, I'm no good at guessing these things)  it's a lovely stone and it's going to make a stunning piece when set.
Can't wait to see it finished!

Well, I took a picture that's a little closer to the real color anyways...  Undecided

Hmmm...I dunno...I reckon there might be a modifier in there for colour, even though the second pics look much more pinkerer (pinkerer!!) than the first lot.

This is exciting, I can't wait to see what GIA say.

Sorry to be so long in reply! the report came back from GIA as .79 carats fancy brownish pink (oh well, but not light?) and the clarity as I1 (not a surprise, as there is one PINK feather that's pretty obvious under 10x and can almost be seen with the eye)

Realistically, everyone who's seen the stone in  person has commented on the pink, and no-one noticed any brown...

Went ring shopping over the weekend, and my GF likes the look of about 1 1/4 carat round f-j color rounds (huh?) set in white gold. Oddly, she likes the look of something like an I1 over something cleaner (huh? again)

I offered her the pink, and she recommended I sell it and buy her something less valuable. (huh?! some more)

I imagine I'll figure everything out eventually...

Sorry you're disappointed in the colour grading. It's such a lovely stone. Sorry too that your girlfriend isn't so fond of it for her ring. I hope you find her the perfect 1.25ct F round stone though - if it's what she wants, it will make her happy!

If it's any consolation, I'd say yes and grab that pink in a heartbeat!   Wink

Ummmmm, no, Mrs. M, YOU have a baby on the way and must SAVE for the little one. I'LL take the pink!  Evil

Newhope, I'm sorry, too, that you are disappointed. But, please know that I actually prefer a brownish or orangish modifier in pink... I think the colors can be exquisite and I just like them better  than the coveted "pink." You have a lovely diamond.  What counts is how you feel when you LOOK at it; not what it says on the GIA paper.

Believe me, if you decide to sell your pink, people WILL be squabbling over it!  But remember, the prices of diamonds keep going up and up... you've got something that MAY be difficult to replace should you change your mind.

I think congrats are in order that it came back with pink as the main color. That is HUGE!  I agree with T that I actually like the pinks that have some brown in them.  Sorry your gf doesn't like it, but yes, I am sure you will have a gazillion offers on that beauty right away!  Can you afford to keep it and surprise her with it as a necklace for the wedding, or do you need to sell it in order to get the engagement ring?
