HI everyone!
As we all know the cut of a diamond is one of the most important aspects to consider when buying a diamond.
Here's a unique stone that is a great specimen to use to discuss this.
Here's the stats:

GIA REPORT #: 17480240
Here's the stone

Can you notice that the culet or apex of the stone is not in the center?
Does this mean it's badly cut?
My first reaction is to actually look at the diamond.
Actually in this case, I looked at the diamond before I looked at the GIA report.
The off center culet is not immediately apparent.
One thing I did notice was that the stone was on the deep side.
No detriment to the sparkle and overall appearance- except it's not the largest 1.00 you'll ever see.
By no means is it tiny, just not "spready"
Let's tilt the stone a little and look at it

To me, it's even less apparent now.
Here's a third shot- where the camera didn't quite grasp it's subject in perfect focus..

The last shot is, IMO, the closest to what the human eye will see. Whose eyes could focus in like the top two shots?
What do you guys think?
BTW- GIA did NOT call this a Cushion Modified Brilliant - as I would have expected. No sireebob.
Why it's a "Round Cornered Square Modified Brilliant"? I can't answer.
I mean I can- It has to do with the facet pattern- but I can't cause it seems silly to me....
