Hi All- we recently had a request for a "long" radiant cut diamond, light yellow.

This cut is extreme- very long.
What do you guys think?

At over 4ct, it may be long, but it's BIG!

I love that kind of stone. One of the most memorable diamonds I have ever seen is a ~4 ct baguette (well, not sure how you'd call it other than that: it was over 25 mm long by about 6 wide in a step cut with straight corners - set in a tuttifrutti clip ca. 1930).

It would make a fabulous pendant. It would have to belong to someone with really long fingers if it was going to be a ring, though!

Nice colour, too.

Thanks guys!
The tag calling it FLY VVS2 is based on a .....EGL report ( I believe this is from the Timbucktoo branch...heheh)
I'd say the diamond is U-V, or W-X.
It is a clean stone though.....

it measures 10.78 x 7.19 x 5.66

How odd! I'm usually ardently opposed to long-legged cuts because I think they look skewed, like someone took a photo and squished in the sides to make everything look thinner. But that one's not bad at all. It's very close to the 5:4 ratio, which I find attractive.

I think it would look divine as an elongated three-stone (maybe a high-white baguette either side, all situated N-S?) or perhaps a drop pendant, maybe connected to the chain with a small RB and finished with a small pear dangle.

(I'm obviously feeling creative today!  angel)

I think there are many options to set this stone, if this is someone's dream.  I say go for it!

I know I have read plenty of posts from people loving long legged diamonds like this.  It is a lovely color too.  I would personally put it in a pendant, but I am sure lots of women would love this in a ring.

Very pretty, elegant diamond. But, I agree, at least from how it looks in the photo I can't believe this was called a FANCY.

David, I'm curious, do you know what the requester has planned design-wise for his/her long radiant (regardless if this is the winning stone)?

I really like the stone Smiley  It would be gorgeous made into a much larger version of 5 stone rad ring with baguettes, with some really long, slender and elegant baguettes!!!

Thanks guys!
I believe the stone would go into a simple band type of ring with some baguettes and rounds on the side....

Seems very well cut. Lovely shade too. Personally I think a ring might be too limiting for a stone this large. As a centerstone of a more elaborate pendant, perhaps?

David, if it is a band style, does that mean the diamond would be turned lengthwise ACROSS the finger? Is this a ring for a man or a woman?

I feel like I'm a contestant on, oh gee, what was that many-decades-old TV show...? Guess My Line? Hummm, interesting project. If it comes to fruition, I hope we get a peek.

What's not to love? Size, shape - a magnificent ring IMO. Big, classy statement.

I believe it will go up and down the finger- as opposed to across.....

Here's a few more shots of the 4.06...

If it went East - West, it would need a big hand! Even my Shreck fingers might be too dainty for that one set across the finger!

Big hand... perhaps! But, I've learned to never say "never" around here! I didn't have any details regarding the final "plan" for this stone. Afterall, it COULD be for a man or someone who wants something really modern or unusual...  dontknow
