Opinions? I saw some beautiful  colored diamonds rings when traveling.
I couldn't get them out of my mind.
I did some reserach.
Seems they are  enhanced diamonds by a well known designer.
Anyway they wont exactly say how they are enhanced  but after  many emails and  calls they disclosed it  is a coating that they fully guarantee.
If enhanced diamonds are supposed to be disclosed I'd have to say this designer had no intention of doing so .
Are there different ways to enhance diamonds to produce colored diamonds? They also said this process was reversable.I just was turned off by the lack of  disclosure.

Read this article on color-enhanced and clarity-enhanced diamonds:

http://en.wikipedia..../Diamond_enhancement

Specifically, it says, "The CIBJO and government agencies such as the United States Federal Trade Commission explicitly require the disclosure of most diamond treatments at the time of sale."

Well let's skip the many emails and calls: our diamonds are NOT color or clarity enhanced.  Period.

The problem with a lot of these unscrupulous sellers (aside from being shady and deceitful) is that the regular consumer has no idea of the value of the rarer colored diamonds (blue, pink, green, etc) so they are understandably shocked when they see the prices of natural stones and think that genuine honest sellers of natural diamonds are ripping them off.

Natural pinks have increased in value a lot in recent years.  We are honored to have some in stock right now - both loose and set into various pieces.  This one is a particularly good price with a pink halo to really showcase the center stone:

HI All!
Welcome to you Red-Hatter- thanks for posting!

I'm a bit skeptical of Wikipedia- I'm sure there's a lot of great info there- although some specifics I've seen regarding diamonds were not accurate.

There's absolutely NO question that there's so many sellers offering treated stones with less than full disclosure.

In terms of the "retail" aspect: Since natural colored diamonds are so rare- and it's a very specialized part of the diamond business, few "normal" jewelers carry any selection at all.
Plus, even if they have one or two pieces- the information you might get is questionable- for the lack of experience in this specialized field.

Of course you can shop for pinks at stores like Tiffany, Cartier- and the "big boys" as an alternative.
Of course there you'll find very pricey options.

Even markets such as St Thomas, and St Maarten- with which we have tremendous personal experience,  are not necessarily a great option.
In many ways these markets are similar to 47th Street in New York.
There's a few good sellers mixed among many that are questonable.
Plus, the intense competition creates some intimidating sales tactics.

Basically, if one is searching for a pure pink diamond- or even a lovely pink with brown - you're going to need a strong pocketbook.

Mikla- I'm not bashing you because I read wikipedia, too. But as a copywriter I'd cut off my toe before citing it as a source.  But the other day I was doing an article on Cinderella (really) and it sure came in handy.

red hatter, I must mention that you should be wary of any dealers you see on cruises. Not very good stories there.

Have you considered a pink sapphire?
