Now the video is working for me!  And the diamond is working for me too!!  In the photos I didn't know if the flat culet would bug me, but with the video, I think it is just an awesome looking diamond!  Love it!

Hold on for a sec.  Speaking of terminology....I have to refer to my cheat sheet here to understand what you all are talking about.

OK, that's better...you were saying?

Oh, the 1.17 is delightful! I'd give him a home in a heartbeat if I had any spare cash right now.

For info, I  have a rose cut. It's a pear shape and it's set as a pendant. It's totally flat on the back, faceted only on the top. It performs very differently to other cuts.  Quite an interesting stone.

My pleasure! It's a lovely piece, even with its current light coating of small baby fingerprints. I believe it was made / cut in the 18th Century.

Swap you for a 1.17ct OMC? Grin

I'm quite a bit bigger than 1.17 ct.

DW asks if you'd still consider the swap, including the Asscher band.

OMC( the person) - don't undervalue yourself! Shoot, you're worth at least a carat and half...heheh

On Monday, I'm going to have a look see at an old dealer friend of mine.... I remembered that has some older stones....
perhaps we'll see some here early next week.....

That 1.17 looks like it has polka dots all over it! Is that due to reflection of the flat culet? Forgive me if this is incorrect terminology. Any way that you look at it though, it's an interesting stone.
Correctamundo geb!
The culet does reflect all over the stone.
This is a case where the magnification and still photo show you something its difficult if not impossible to see in real life.
I mean, the culet does reflect around the stone- but when you look at it without the loupe, it's dazzling- it's impossible to tell what's reflecting from where.....

We're sending this stone off on Monday for the real deal..... a GIA report.....

Thanks for sharing, Miz M.

Your pendant is lovely, and bitty fingerprints only make it lovelier.  I wish I could visit and see how she plays with the light.  (Both your pendant and that cute little redhead are real dazzlers.)  love1

I love some of those OMCs, too, like the 1.17, D.  They just seem to sparkle bigger than life.

ROFL!!!

ah2bqat, thanks. It's interesting in different lights. It doesn't have much brilliance but it does have flashes of fire. I like that it's really old, I like to wonder about its history.

Please understand, there is a family prejudice towards absorbable litte redheads, like you and yours.  petals

It sounds like that  pendant should be featured in a historical romance.   If I had my library available, I could recommend a couple of authors. Grin

Hey, I can see a bunch of flowers all over the diamond. What an intriguing cut! A sure conversation-starter...  Cool

Isn't it divine? I love it too. If we still had classifieds, I'd even think of selling the rose cut to get my hands on this one. Or a kidney. Whatever anyone would like... Grin

The 1.17, to my eye, appears to have no wear. NO surface abrasions whatsoever.
Plus, the girdle is faceted- leading me to believe that the stone was restored.
The modern girdle works on increasing the liveliness of the stone

I confirmed this today. Our friend purchased a bunch of stuff- among them was this diamond (in a ring which kooks a lot newer). This was the only old cut diamond.
It had abrasions so the stone was gone over to clean it up. A "brand new " 120(?) year old diamond.
