Man, do I have to do everything around here?

« on: June 04, 2007, 09:09:44 AM »

Now this is what I call a cocktail!!!

http://www.npr.org/t....php?storyId=4505397

....The drink is listed on the bar menu at $10,000 -- but the actual cost of the beverage is based on the market value of the diamond in the glass.

it'll follow by the effort to throw up or constipate...  not a pretty sight either way...  Grin

LOL Yeah me and Joia and Michi will have our diamond testers and loupes ready! I wouldn't order that though.... What if it was a badly cut diamond? Not worth $10K unless DJM is buying?

Honestly, who thinks this stuff up?  It's like the company that make diamond smothered pacifiers.  I'm with Snooper, imagine how upset you would be if it was a dog of a diamond!  I'm wondering how diamond savvy the people are who choose the stones for the cocktails - and if they've been sampling too many before they go out on their little diamond buying spree!

Yeah -- the only tip the bartender would get from the CDI crew is how to buy a good diamond!!!

I think we CDs are too clever to fall for this.  Mind you Jen cleans her diamonds in gin and that would probably make a pretty expensive tipple.
Just imagine us dipping our fingers in the glass to get at the diamond to loupe and test it?  LOL

I guess we would hold it next to something white to find out the color.... and even take up a camera to get a pic.... Crazy? NOOOOOOOO - just obsessed!  Whistle

This is crazy... all the same things came to my mind... swallowing it, badly cut, etc.
And how trustworthy is that bartender??? What if they swipe it with a CZ???

Speaking of Martinis --here's one that my wife really enjoys as a summer drink!
It is actually refreshing ...

RUBY RED MARTINI (not to be confused with RubyMu)

5 counts of RUBY RED ABSOLUTE VODKA (pink grapefruit)
Swirl triple sec
Swirl lime juice (Rose's lime juice)
Splash of cranberry juice
Shake
Pour in Martini glass
Garnish with lime wedge
Hold glass with same hand that you are sporting a pink diamond ring (or band) It will really enhance the color!!!!
Cheers.

Sooo good-- you can even have it for breakfast (LOL!) *j/k*

I'd really like for some of you to try this one and let me know what you think.

Well, I'm pretty sure that I can get MOST of the ingredients.  It's just that I might have trouble with the pink diamond ring...  Roll Eyes You think it will taste the same?
