I'm thinking Radiant because his wedding band has white princess stones in it... I'm also thinking a longer radiant like your hubby's vs. a "Squarish" one...

I must have the only daughter on law who isn`t at all interested in jewellery bless her. When my son asked her to marry him he was on an Army expedition to Mt Kilimanjaro, climbing up some rarely climbed face of it.
When they reached the summit he asked his Commanding Officer could he use their sattelite phone to make an urgent call ?
My daughter in law was asleep in barracks ( she was a soldier back then ) and they got her out of bed to take the call. She thought he was injured !
Anyway he told her he was looking down on the world and it was such a beautiful place but he didn`t want to live in it without her and asked her marry him.
A week later he arrived back in the UK, took her to buy a ring and gave her a budget big enough to buy a ROCK. She chose a tiny tiny little diamond you need a magnifying glass to see and to this day she still isn`t interested in jewellery nor has ever thought of buying any.
He spends every Xmas, Anniversary and birthday wracking his brain what to buy her !

I'm deciding what to do with the 1.51 asscher I just got, of course. For now I plan to set it into a pendant.   I eventually want to go with that stone in a RHR, and I don't want it to look like an ER.

So for now it's a pendant since I don't want to WAIT to figure out a ring setting, and I can take my time getting to know my new asscher baby first!  David is helping me design the pendant setting, (prob dangling from a smaller bezel set asscher and the stones turned 45 degrees; i.e. tip to tip, which was Snooper's great thought.)  I'll post more about this under the thread for that diamond!!

I also have my ER a gorgeous 1.5 ctw marquise ring that has languished in my jewelry box for the last 7 yrs since my divorce.  I love the ring so much I can't bear to part with it, even though I don't wear it.  I'm thinking about having it reset into the E-W setting like CaratHead's Danhov one.  David says he would do it for me.  Was actually right in the middle of planning that when the 4-step asscher attacked me.  Grin

I'm telling you, IHADP is my long lost twin Smiley I can't wait to see the pendant!!! I think turning the asscher at a 45 degree angle would be amazing!!!

But I gotta say I'm really excited to see your marquise set E/W!!!! OH LALALA

Awestruck, that's great that your DIL doesn't care for jewelry (well good for your son).  What ever floats her boat.  Even though I love diamonds, if I had to choose a 10 carat rock over my happiness and life w/ hubby? I'd choose the hubby hands down!

Oooo IHADP, I can't wait to see your new pendant, I bet it will look awesome!!!

I was looking at an Asscher bracelet that had all the stones set at 45 degree angles and it was awesome Grin

I definitely have a new project in mind, but it is dependent on my selling my studs on ebay.  I am keeping it a secret for now as I do not know if it will be possible, but if somehow it comes to life I will certainly fill you all in!

And for sure I want to upgrade my FBY sometime in the coming year, probably around April for my 35th bday, to a slightly larger, very square fancy yellow radiant with traps or trills, but that also depends on what I do or don't do with above mentioned project.

IHADP, I love marquise cuts, mind popping us a pic? Oh, and I also adore off set squares...my original e-ring has 2 small offset princess cuts...
Trinkette, will you reuse the sapphires in a project too?
GL, whatever your plan is, I hope you can get to it soon, you have good taste and I bet it will be a stunner.

EMJ, although I LOVE sapphires, the sapphire baguettes in this ring aren't that big (.35 ctw) and, frankly, they are a bit dark for my taste (described as "fine medium-dark blue"). They set off the center stone well, but on their own, they don't offer much of the "personality" that I would like to see. I'll definately save these sapphires for something down the road, but I'm in a "bigger is better mode" now.  Grin

Actually, I've got TWO sets of dark sapphire studs; maybe I'll just link all the little dark sapphires together like a choo-choo train!  Oh, I KNOW, perhaps someday I'll combine all the sapphires with some beautiful colorless diamonds, with a stunner in the center, and make a 17" platinum necklace. Hummm...

*sigh* I'll just have to collect a pile of loose gems, then I can dump them out on the table and push them all around until I see a "combination" that I like. You know, like David does...  Whistle

IHADP, go for the EW marquis! CH's is a BEAUTY!  bliss

I've been putting off trying to take pics of my 'stuff' but finally gave it a shot today.  I'll start a new thread and put up some of my goodies, including the marquise!!  Grin

I've been mulling over my wish list / project plan today and here's what I came up with for short - medium term. Thought I'd share, so that if I go off plan, you can all enable me back in the right direction! I've made some impulse buys over the years, so now I need to formulate a project plan and stick to it!

EC studs - planned and will be ordered in Oct
EC pendant - will want this as soon as I see the studs, nothing surer. Might as well be realistic. Big question here is do I trade my pear or just buy a whole new pendant? I'd like it in the same setting, so it might be a possible trade but not sure if I could really hand it over, when the chips are down.
3 stone ring- using my rb studs as sidestones, with a light yellow oval or cushion centre
sapphire pendant - pear cut blue sapphire of around 1.5 - 2 ct with up to 0.5rb diamond above it.

There. I'm done. If I stray, please refer me back to this list over the next 18 months.

Thanks Grin

Jen

and then we can have a look at ec bands, and a little asscher pendant and why not get little asscher studs to match and then there's that nice little asscher three stone ring, might as well have the set and I'd love an ec bracelet and really one day, I must have something pink and then there's split shank haloes and if I don't trade my pear, how about a halo reset with pink melee and that's before I even get to thinking about a huge white cushion in that nice double claw plat setting and what about rubies? I don't have any of them and one would be silly, I'd need a whole set and somebody stop me please

Oooo - I love your project plan list Jen!

During your "asscher period," I think a 5 stone band would be lovely...

I really want one.  Although with my Shrek fingers, I would need a 7 stone or something, lol.

I love it! Kiss

The asscher period is going to be expensive, I fear. I'm going for little ones, but lots of them! Although I did just mention that I was to be assisted back on track if I stray from my short term project plan...

Don't think I could actually do it! I've really bonded with that pear! DH can get me the EC pendant. There - I can now move one item from the pending list to the project list...
