I just sent Li'L BLOO and her BFF to David to be resized.

I found out I"d flattened the platinum band, cracked the rose gold halo in 5 places, and destroyed a prong on one of her half moons.  She pretty much has to be rebuilt to become  her beautiful self again! 1237387oyy519k20r  Bawling Bawling Bawling Bawling Bawling

I knew I was hard on rings, but this went beyond the pale!  I am totally distraught even though I know David can bring her back to her original glory from 5 years ago. Thank goodness I did send her in before I lost Li'L Bloo, half her PANK Halo, or one of Bloo's Moons!

And now we have another move to contemplate!  I swear she will live in her ring box until after all the pictures are hung in the next new place!

My poor baby!  She is such a beauty, even wounded as she is!    Bawling Bawling Bawling Bawling

Blimey Ah2, what have you been doing to cause so much damage to your beloved Bloo?  I hope she gets well soon!  Have you really had her for 5 years?  It doesn't seem that long!

Really sorry to hear that Li'L BLOO is hurt...sending her away must have been tough and the separation stress might be unbearable at times...I know you can Hang Tough though!  I'm so glad to hear none of her stones were lost!  I don't think I've seen a close up of Li'L BLOO...so I'm looking forward to seeing her new pictures ASAP!   Kiss

Poor ring Sad  I am sure she will come back to you looking just stunning!

I can be hard on my hands myself and have damaged some rings in bad ways beyond repair as well (my original e-ring was that way) so I can totally understand the heartbreak that goes with!

Thanks, guys!  There is some anxiety not having her here, but Mum's ring has stepped up to fill the breach until Bloo is all better.

Cherrypie, I had to go back to Bloo's original droolfest to see how old she is.  It was May 2009 when we started the project, so she isn't even 3 years old!!  As to how I could wreak such damage in so short a time - I have no clue.  We moved several times, but I pack the boxes, not haul the stuff around.  That's what boys are for, right?

Maybe I need to have any future projects made from tungsten carbide steel.   Grin Can your guys work in that media, D?

Still, I'm glad I sent her and her BFF in to be resized.  Imagine if I had waited another year or some other future time?   scared scared   And thank goodness David is so understanding with his repair policy!  With any other jeweler I'd have had to put Li'l Bloo in her box and left her there until we get back on our feet.  This will pinch, but is still doable on our current budget.  Love you, D! HI all!!
First off, of course we'll make sure she's brought back up to snuff......

We believe the bulk of the damage was done by wearing LiL Bloo next to a wedding band....maybe our guys are off Cat- but that's what they identified as the main source of excessive wear.
Was she worn next to a band?

BTW- I don't want to make anyone "wrong"- it's great to wear a band next to the main ring....maybe attaching them is the answer.....

Do you think there is another option that would be good for those of us who don't want to attach David?

I admit I pick smooth metal edges on my rings (all straight lines) in hopes that it won't happen as much.  Is that a bad idea do you think?  I really don't want to attach because I don't always wear the same rings together all the time Wink

It's not a "bad" idea- but it will result in damage to the rings over time Squig......
This is a tough question- as there's no easy answer.

I know it's a question that comes up often and I know a lot of women wonder about it, so I figured I would ask for us all Smiley

I do have a friend who had to attached the two together after she wore away her very dainty engagement ring band on the bottom.  I also know some jewelers never suggest wearing bands together at all.

I am sure this is something people should think about when buying rings.

Probably a good reminder to have our rings checked out every so often as well just to make sure!  If damage did happen in my case I think for me what would happen is I would design a ring that would look fantastic all alone.  Then have a blingy band to wear on days I wanted something else and a plain band for the other times.  For now I'll stack some rings together... it's almost an addiction  Roll Eyes

I think you should Squig!
In the case of a solitaire ring, the potential injury is far less.
Rings are made to be worn and enjoyed.
I love the fact that rings look the way they do when they come back for fixin'
It means people have enjoyed wearing them.

This is a wonderful thought that I do agree with Smiley

I know my grandmother wore her pieces a lot.  Some damaged, some lost but she could tell me stories with some of her rings... I like that.

Ummm....Errrrrr.....well, yes.  Li'l Bloo generally cuddles with her BFF, who is also in for resizing.  Mebbe it would be best to weld the two together.  I don't want to have Li'l Bloo hurt by her band. Embarrassed

Mikla, looking back, it's only been 2 + years.  DH and I are coming up on our 6th anniversary of being together, but Bloo was created in 2009

I'm sorry that your ring is damaged but I have to say, I love it when women have pieces that they're still so passionate about...it must make your husband very happy.

She'll be back on your finger and better than ever before you know it. Hang in there ah2qhat.
