Would you own, or do you own, a treated diamond? ( For color) For the sake of education, mind sharing pics?

I don't own one (as far as I know). I would be wary, because of durabilty, but if the treatment was stable and the stone was beautiful and it was accurately represented, I would certainly consider it.

Being me, over time I'd begin to see it as 'just' a treated diamond (because I'm difficult and fickle) but it would still be worn, if I loved it.

Are you thinking about one??

i have 2 rings where i was told that the stones were treated.  they are not large stones, only basically melee size so it doesnt really bother me.

the first ring is a smoky quartz surrounded by treated "champagne" diamonds and the second is a treated "champagne" diamond band bordered with smaller white diamonds.  the one thing i was told was that i could not steam them as that could effect the treatment and that they should just be hand washed.

I would like to see photos of various treated diamonds to see what the colors look like, and how far they are from nature...might be a good reference for future forum use too...

I'm actually considering one.... this ring is a .37 center "natural  fancy pink diamond'... I really doubt it is. I haven't asked, but I have a very hard time believing it's natural for only $2500.

It seems really pretty, but I'm not too sure if I would be ok with it...

Treated diamonds, are, after all still natural in everything except color.

I'm guessing it's treated as a diamond of that color would NO WAY be that low in price.

Hi everyone,
There's really no way at all to tell what that is, or if it's acutally a photo of a ring that's for sale...
One things for sure- no .37 Fancy Pink is going to be that kind of price.
To me nuked diamonds are nothing at all like Natural Fancy Colored Diamonds - they look nothing like natural diamonds....

You know, I have thought about this from time to time over the years, and I just could never get myself psyched up enough to spend that kind of money on something that wasn't 100%.  It is kind of like moissonite (spelling?).  Those rings may be less expensive for their size than diamonds, but they are still thousands of dollars.  I would rather spend it on the real deal and just go smaller or less dramatic.  Or just get CZ for a lot less if it is just for play.  That is just me and MHO, though.

I agree with GL.  I've never seen moissonite even though I've heard it looks "pretty real", but I'd just rather save if need be to get the real thing.  I can however spot a CZ a mile away.  I just can't see myself spending money on something that wasn't real.  This is my own opinion and is not meant as an attack to anyone.

We talk about treated diamonds. It's not the same that imitation of diamonds.

Moissonite and Cz are imitations not treated diamonds I think!

I know.  My point was just that I would prefer not to pay thousands of dollars unless it was untreated.

Funny, I actually saw someone wearing a colour treated diamond ering today. In a jeweler's store. I went in to ask about getting my rings sized (and went out again!) but she had about .60ct of treated blue solitaire. I never saw one that size in real life before and I really didn't like that stone. It looked like all the diamond's personality died in the nuking process.

I have seen blue treated melee and I thought they were pretty, but in the bigger size, I didn't like it at all.

Well, I have my green round which my DH bought me for Christmas one year.  It was the first piece of jewelry that he ever gave me and he knew that I loved yellow diamonds.  I don't know for sure that it is treated, but I suspect that it is.  However, I absolutely LOVE it and get compliments on it all of the time.  It has a lot of glarkel to borrow a term I heard somewhere before Wink

Now, would I buy it again if I knew that it was treated?  Probably not, but having fallen in love with it before knowing any better I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I agree with David- a treated diamond just doesn't look that real. They have TOO much color for a diamond, and then the color is really intense and weird looking anyway. I've never seen them in person, but having looked at plenty of pictures, I just don't think they look right.
