[snip]
It's more with this one I can't see how it's possible but I'm no jeweler!  It's not that the inner circumference of the shank is round...it's that the outer circumference of the ring is, stones and all.
[snip]

Bear in mind that although "one full size" may sound a lot, it's only about 3 mm on the circumference. That's about 1/10 of an inch. If the shank is plain metal, as opposed to pave, there is no reason why the goldsmith can't make a perfect (arc of) circle 3 mm longer, and the curvature of the top 1/3 with the stones can be blended adjusting the sides ever so slightly (to be precise, about 0.4 mm either side - width of about 5 human head hairs).

I know that is probably an illusion but that looks smaller than any rings I have, so I am going to guess a 3.5

Perspective.  You have it.

That is a fascinating to learn.  I never really thought about it.  I mean, it sounds like so much.  Thank you for that post!  I'm actually feeling better about it!  The pave only extends halfway down the sides so that's probably doable.  And really, even if it ended up slightly off round it's not the end of the world.  I'm just a weirdo that likes to take her rings off and stare at them when I'm trying to focus on something.  It tickles me to see that shape!

Now it's a matter of whether or not I can get my act together to send it out this week, or if it has to wait until next week.  Excellent.

Weirdo? Weirdo?!? That's a perfectly normal thing to do, I'll have you know, young lady. Hrmmmph!

(Glad to be of service - would you please post photos or point me to one of your ring, if it's already on the forum: at this point I'm curious to see it!!!)

Weirdo?  Nah that sounds absolutely normal!  I loupe my rings often too just to look at the stones up close.  I do it all the time with old and new.  I also play with my UV pen a lot so I can see the fluor on some of them.  So I would say you are in good company here Wink

Thank you OMC!  It's nice to be normal sometimes.   Wink

I'm not sure if linking here is allowed-but here's a gallery of David's photos with a few of mine.  I need to get better ones!

WOW.  2.75??  At that point, why not just get a bigger center stone, drill a hole through it and slip her finger right through the diamond?

I'm glad she found DBL, though- I'll bet she's never seen anything that could be made to look perfect for her finger before Smiley

Sheesh!  Talk about small-boned!  Shocked

My handy-dandy ring sizer thingy only goes down to a size 4!  I think even my toe ring is a size 3.  On the other hand(hehehe) my left foot is almost a half size bigger than my right (dominant side).  I don't wanna think about left and right ring fingers.  I already know I need to get Li'l Bloo and her microwave BFF downsized a bit.  In the last few weeks they've tried to take a ride in the washer and explore the living room air space for no apparent reason.   tongue2

Still, what a gorgeous piece of bling this little ring is!  Lucky, lucky lady!

Ok, I am officially calling micropave "microwave" from now on Wink  Speaking of appliances, I'm glad you rescued your rings fro a thrill ride in the washer!! I've have probably wet myself in fear (and then, needed the washer, so it all works, I guess..)
