goodpost Well, I teach private music lessons.  Tuesday-Friday I teach at a music store, and on Saturday, I teach a few lessons at peoples' homes.  It pays more to go to one's home as I can avoid "studio fees" but it's much easier to get students by teaching from the store.  Been teaching for 11 years since I started college.  I wasn't planning on doing this other than recreational but I digress.  Been a wimp at taking auditions.   My teacher is NOT pleased...

I'm also a mom of 3 cats and 1 dog:)

You know, it was 70 degrees here yesterday, and I saw a mail woman in shorts and short sleeves.  What a fun job, getting to walk around and be outside...then I realized that weather like that is rare in Chicago.  That must be one tough job, EMJ.  You must be very fit!

I am an accountant for PepsiCo.  I do project management work.  I love my company!  It is great to work for a company that puts out great products.

In my spare time, I scoop litter boxes...

We had 70 here too, and I am getting fitter, but I'm still probably the fattest girl here...Five feet two and 185! Beats the 211 I was this time last year though.....(it is fun too)

I also do the litter box thing Smiley

Congrats on the weight loss! That's a huge feat!

I'm a psychologist. I used to work at a hospital but quit my job to take care of my dad. I am currently in between jobs though I do have a very very very small private practice. I'm getting to the point where I am ready to get back out there full-time.

That's great that you lost so much weight EMJ!!! Congrats!!!

Yes, litter box duty is in my description too!

What? I can't hear you EMJ.  I'm sorry, I went deaf hearing my students do everything I told them NOT to do.  I hate when people go to me, "Gosh you seem so patient!" Honestly? I'm far from patient.  I do it as it helps my diamond fund:) I liked it for the first 5 years, but doing the same thing over and over gets a bit redundant.

Obviously, none of my students are the same (playing wise, problems, good qualities, etc) but I DO NOT get when they don't "understand" things when I'm giving them great suggestions, and I swear I'm "dummy proofing things!".  They don't know what they're getting at a fraction of the price I paid for my lessons.  *sigh* I keep thinking "Today I made money for future diamonds" Smiley

It's amazing the lengths we go to support our addiction, isn't it???

I would have a thriving practice if I actually did start a sparklie addiction group  Evil  ... or fail miserably...

Tea, I definitely could use your services...I have a real sparklie addiction.  And it seems to be getting worse.  Although, it hasn't interfered with my gambling, drinking or drug use, yet.

JUST KIDDING...remember, I am a good Catholic girl!

I teach college English.  My Ph.D. is in American Literature.  I'm an adjunct (part-timer) at two schools, which gives me well over a full-time job :-).

I'm a second semester senior at the University of Wisconsin.  I'm majoring in operations and technology Management, with a specialization in supply chain management.

I'll be starting work in the "real world" this summer.

You have that right CH!! I'm so lazy in posts here (grammar, etc.,) Robin is our grammer  police!!!!

I have a Masters in Clarinet Performance, oboe minor.  Unfortunately, there's a huge demand for piano teachers and it URKS me that half of them do not teach theory.  It's a shame as their parents don't realize this.  So when I get a student who's from another teacher, state, etc., I have to do THEIR job and MY job in order for them to be taught right.

I haven't seriously played the piano since 11th grade (I'm almost 29) but for what I do, 90% of my piano students are beginners, and the rest intermediate.  I took piano in college as you have to in order to obtain your degree (piano proficiency test).

I have about 15-20 clarinet students, a billion piano, 5 oboe students, and a good amount of flute students.  My boss wanted me to learn flute and it was easy but for me to guide the students with the standard lit I know the basics and feel a bit out of place.  Method books, and the like I'm familiar with.

Annie, you'll be fine in the real world.  Enjoy your college days!!!

Nice pic Ace!

When I worked in the UK, I was a financial and management accounts manager.  When I moved to the States, I really wanted to try banking but was so appalled at the terrible customer service they expected me to give, that I quit on principal after 3 months!  I used to watch the shopping channels on the TV and I was forever telling my DH, "I could do that!"  Anyway, that led me to find a job in a jewelers and I guess I could do that because I was managing the store in less than 2 months!

Since having my son (and then my daughter), I have been a stay home mom.  David has given me such a fantastic opportunity to work from home and I couldn't be happier.  I can still look after my children's every need and I don't need to call my boss to take the day off when one of them is poorly!  I'm truly thrilled and excited to be a part of DBL and CDI.

Snooper, I am so impressed at anyone who studies music to that level!   hail  I played the clarinet through high school and tried my hand at violin at one point too.  I love music but I wouldn't say I was talented!  We have so many brilliant musicians here.  Anyone who hasn't seen it, check out Marc's website - WOW!

I'm regional account director at an international advertising agency. I love being in advertising because it's one of the few jobs where you get to work in different industries. For example, I've worked FMCG accounts like Sara Lee, Kodak and tech like Oracle, healthcare like Cialis and telco like SingTel.

The other good thing about being employed is that it helps support my jewellery addiction!

Since Alex has shared his great pic, I was wondering if we could start sharing pics. Would love to see how everyone else looks since we "talk" to each other everyday so it'd be really nice to "meet" everyone.

I'll share pics of DH and me when I get home...our most recent holiday shots are at home...

This is a picture of me that DH took while we were on vacation in China. Apparently, this was how an examination cell in imperial China looked like and it was tiny.

The second is a picture of DH in Guilin that I shot....

Everyone is sooo cute!  Ace, your DFF obviously adores you, as she should considering your dedication to jewels!!!!

So interesting to hear what everyone does.  Snoop, my dad played the clarinet and he breaks it out for my son now and then.  We have tried to convince him to start taking lessons again, but he won't.  I was a dancer, but have not a bone in my body that can play music or sing, whereas my son and husband are musical to the core!  I love hearing them play together.  It is awesome!

I direct a scholarship for MBA/MPA/MA students.  I love it and I get to work part-time and from home, though I am starting to believe that "part-time" is a fantasy.  Still, it has been wonderful and it helps support my arguement for DSAs!!!!  And man, do those F pears have my brain spinning!!!

Great thread and good idea to have some pics...so nice to associate a face with names (I'll have to find pics tonight, I don't have any saved on this computer).

I'm an archaeologist with an MA in Bioarchaeology. My specialty is historic cemeteries in North America. I know it sounds a bit gruesome..but I really do love what I do. We excavate "forgotten" cemeteries/ones that will be destroyed by impending urban sprawl/construction and relocate them to established cemeteries where they will be safe...at least for awhile longer. Many of the ones I work on have no headstones remaining and it's up to me to solve the mystery of who the people buried there are. I do archival research on the property to establish who owned it through the years. Then I analyze the casket hardware and other artifacts to establish a date of interment. I also do the skeletal analysis to determine if the individual is male or female and how old they were when they passed away (among other analyses). It's really fun when I can put an actual name with a burial, I feel that person isn't lost any longer.
