I'm seriously considering purchasing a "Pregnancy Present" for the birth of my first child (a girl-she's due in April). I'm working on getting over the guilt of buying myself something while my DH works himself to death getting our house renovated in time for her arrival, but that's something I need to work on myself, and with him..

So, I need your help with deciding WHAT to get IF I do get it...Here is what I am thinking:
I want a RHR in the DBL Legacy setting. White gold halo with all white diamonds. The center stone is what I am asking your opinion on:

1) the 1.92 O-P I2 Radiant set with yellow prongs to bring out more of the yellow
or
2) the .95 Brownish-Greenish-Yellow SI2 Oval

Pros of 1): I would LOVE to have a ~2 carat "Yellow" diamond!
Cons: Not sure if the "Yellow" would be yellow enough. I prefer the lighter yellows anyway but is this too light? Would it just look like a poorly colored white diamond? Also, would the I2 grade clarity bother me?

Pros of 2) I LOVE the unique-ness of the color and it's cheaper (by about 1k!).
Cons: it's not much bigger in caratage than my ER. I want a bigger stone in carat size BUT...I made little paper cut-outs of the dimensions of both stones (I know...I'm crazy/obsessed!) and the 1.92 didn't appear to look much bigger than the .95 stone???

dimensions: 1.92radiant=8.13x6.51x4.30    .95 oval=7.55x5.49x3.03

So, in considering your vote, the ultimate goals of the ring are to:
icon_sunny Have a memento of the birth of my little girl that I can pass on to her when she gets older.
icon_porc Get the biggest "Bang" for my buck (ie: I want something that looks larger than my ER, a .91 carat asscher in a halo)

Thanks for your help!!!  Smiley

That O-P radiant is a doozy!  I think a lovely light lemon will be perfect for your springtime baby girl!  Setting it in yellow will certainly enhance the color too.  I think it will be gorgeous Jewel.  Have you checked out the movie?

I picked the o-p radiant.  I really liked the movie of that one, and I think it will give you the size you're looking for.

For now, my rose gold halo around my white asscher is my "pink" and I want to get something larger. I have large hands so dainty doesn't look good on me. It just looks small. Also, my nursery colors are yellow and sage with some toile so I'm leaning towards yellow.  icon_sunny

Light yellow and VERY springtime!!!! As for the yellows, me and DiamLady have U-V and it's noticeably yellow.  I do not care too much for the lemon drops--nor does my bank account...

Yet DJ has a W-X right? And clearly it's yellow.

I think a halo with the O-P would look divine.  Having the white F-G melee would really make the contrast more apparent.  And I was just telling DJ that April's birthstone is Diamond.  Watch out, you're going to have a girl who will want diamonds, it's guaranteed:)

Yup I have a W-x and I used to have a U-V - both were most definitely yellow.  David just set an S-T stone that looks VERY yellow once set.  He really is the master when it comes to setting diamonds to bring out the color.

I'd pick the O-P radiant too!

However, I'm not sure how "yellow" it will really look. I had a diamond round that was graded (non GIA) as O and it was pretty darn white most of the time. But it was set in platinum and it had strong fluor, so those things made it face up really white for the color it was given. I only saw a hint of color from the sides or in specific lighting.

Maybe if it's set in yellow gold, it will play up the lower color of it... but I dunno.

Either way, it's a GORGEOUS diamond!!

Sounds like a lovely room! I love the colors you chose. Looks like I'm the only one that voted for the second choice but with what you are describing it sounds like choice #2 would match perfectly.

My vote. (although it looks like I'm in the minority) I think it's way cool.

Jewellk...when you get serious, call David.  He will pull the diamond(s) and give you his thoughts and suggestions as to what would look best for either.    I know I really couldn't say for sure what would make the diamond look best.   I can't watch the videos...but even still, these 2 diamonds would be hard to suggest what would look best.   I like both of them! Good luck with whatever you decide! ~Ronda

Arrrrg...I LOVE that greeney oval....love it.  It's been haunting my dreams...i'd love to see it have a happy home with a CDer though...

My vote is the oval...it's so unique....just like your little girl will be.  I just think it's perfect.

Of course, selfishly, I say "don't touch my green baby"...but I know I won't be able to get her... Smiley

I think the O-P has the size that you are looking for, and would look better in the setting you like

I think you might have to fight BJ for that cool oval! She loves it too!

I'm kinda on the fence. I love them both!!!

On one hand, that oval is cool & so unique. It's amazing how many different colors could come from one diamond. And I love the fluorescence. I'm sure you'd never see one like it again!

On the other hand, that radiant is super sparkly & I still can't believe it's an I2! I just watched the movie on it. I was impressed! And you can't beat the size & price either!

I'm going to vote for the radiant! I'm sure the yellow gold prongs will bring out the yellow color, especially if your halo is icy white. You'll definitely be able to see the contrast of colors. And light yellow, or "pastel yellow" seems a lot more girly than a cool oval (as much as I love that one too). I think the radiant has more of a "baby" feel to it than the oval.
