Does anyone know much about Orange Sapphires?

Are they all heat treated?

If not, how do the colors vary?

look on a website called the Natural Sapphire Company. They say none of their sapphires are heat treated.

I have seen natural orange sapphires, but they were pretty expensive. Lovely though. As Awestruck suggests, try NSC. They have some very beautiful stones. I know of a couple of other sources, PM me if you'd like details. Although it might be worth asking David if he could find some for you? Don't know if this is something he'd have an interest in, but if he did, you'd know they were top notch!
Would be really interested to see what you get.

I was researching Padparadsha sapphires last year as I love their color and was surprised to find out that natural pads with the deep reddish-orange color are extremely rare. Most are heat treated. Still gorgeous though!! Not sure if the same applies to orange sapphires.

Does the vendor have a return period? Might be worth having it appraised?

I saw the most stunning orange stone (don't know if it was a sapphire, it was on someone's hand) and it made me want one. Split shank with a halo. It was just gorgeous.

I think orange sapphires might be hard to track down - if it's a possibility, go for it, subject to good return policy!

Not to rain on anyone's parade but that pic is computer generated.  The ring itself is simply a graphic and the center stone's color has been added.  Be careful!  I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure that's not a pic of an actual ring.

Anyone else want to shed some light?

Great looking ring! I have to be honest... Post 7's pic? It looks... photo shopped... I'd check to see that the return policy isn't shady just in case.  I do like it though! It also looks like you could almost set the center stone lower in the basket as there's so much "space".

Oh, definitely photo shopped; the lines of the stone and color don't match up properly!

I would love it, but just looking at this point---so many other things higher up on my wish list Smiley

I do know others that have bought from this company and have been happy with them, but the fact it has no paperwork would really bother me!

The orange ring, if it checked out ok, would be something I would buy in a heartbeat. It's a beauty. I agree with the photoshop concerns though. If you go for it, it might all hang on the return policy. Maybe David could make you something along these lines? I've seen a few coloured stone pieces of his that make me regret my own sapphire choices from elsewhere (pre CDI).

Check this out folks.  eBay deal:

Listed as a buy it now for US $2,600.00 .   (Don't you love when 'jewelers' spell asscher wrong?  My confidence in them goes through the roof...)
What's the catch, you ask?
Yes, it is a real diamond.  CLARITY ENHANCED.  Auuuuugggghhhhhhh.   violent1 pottytrain5 BangHead

Hey!  My brown commoner asscher doesn't need a royal title to be a stunner!  Just like Princess Di, who wasn't an HRH at the end of her life but outshone anyone else in any given room, my brown asscher takes no prisoners!

AZ-the sapphire ring is around $11,000, so it would be awhile before I would even consider something like that---many other things higher up on my list!!!  Grin

Oooo, DJ's brown asscher is TDF  Smiley
