New Baby Coming This Weekend (but it is not sparklie and it does not cry!)

I am so excited that I had to share, even though this is not a sparkle item.

I am getting a Lexus hybrid SUV this weekend!!!  I have really wanted to get a hybrid for awhile now, both for environmental and political reasons, but the Prius is just soooo small.  I am going to double the gas mileage I was getting, and it is an awesome car to boot!  Here is a pick of the actual car.  I expect to pick it up on Sunday.  So excited!!!! 

And, the agony of the paper work (I am getting it on a lease transfer and the process has taken a month already) has successfully kept me from going nutty waiting for my new baubles to arrive from DBL next week!

I didn't know Lexus made a hybrid either. Just out of curiosity, do you know what kind of gas mileage it'll get?

I love SUV's, but the gas mileage on most of them SUCKS!

Thanks, but living where I live that achievement will still be a bit of a stretch!  Doesn't matter as long as I love it!!!! 

Thanks all for the nice words!  I cannot wait (especially since my old car was driven away by its new owner yesterday and I am now carless)!  I like CH's idea of hands with new rings on the steering wheel.  Will have to figure out how to do that.  DH would think it was WAY too kooky for me to ask him to help out.

The current owner gets about 21 mpg, but he drives the canyons a lot, so I will probably do a bit better, as I do a lot of highway driving.  I don't know if that is enough to qualify me for a tax break, but I will find out when we meet with our accountant this month.  Either way, it almost doubles what my Volvo SUV was getting!  My cost per month will be about the same as before (gas will be less and the car will be more), but I figure more $ to Mr. Lexus means less $ to Saudi Arabia and neighbors.

I still mourn my BMWs.  I had a 1992 325i convertible, a 2000 325i, and a 2002 X5, and I loved them all.  Just couldn't justify not going hybrid at this point in time, and the Hydrogen 7 is beyond out of my reach!

Wow that is too cool GL!!  One of the first things that I did when I got back to the US was buy myself a Lexus.  Used of course and not a hybrid...  I do want one at some point.  The good thing is that I live all of about 5 minutes from the office   That is one gorgeous car!

What a dreamy vehicle!  When the time is right, I too want a Lexus!   I heard they ride like a dream but  I love there stylish, good looks too.  Very classy looking.    Hopefully you will get a little tax incentive for choosing a hybrid.   If not, at least you will be providing less $$ to foreign oil.   Do you believe EXXON had record profits of 39 billion??   ...that is a whole other thread!     Ride and enjoy!  ~Ronda

Hurray!!!!  I picked it up today and it is nestled soundly in my garage!!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!  It is so cool to watch the little system that shows you how when it switches from battery to gas and back. 

Cannot wait to get my new sparkling goodies (hopefully soon!) so I can figure out some interesting ways to photograph them all together as suggested!

SO quiet!  And the hybrid feels so interesting.  You have no idea that you have turned on the car, and when you stop at a light you feel like your car has just turned off.  When you are on the highway and it is only the battery working it just feels like you are gliding along!  Awesome!! 

I would really love to test drive a Prius, just to see how it compares.  I never even got into one because the backseat and trunk were so small it was never an option for me.

BTW, I guess another of my obssessions has been revealed, which is cars.  Luckily, this is the one passion my DH shares with me. 

Growing up I always loved going with my dad when he went to look at cars, even though the cars we could afford were pretty much junk.  When I was in high school I was in the room when my dad asked my brother if he wanted to go the car show.  My brother said no, and my dad just moved on.  I told him I was really offended that he didn't ask me, just because I was a girl, when I was the one always running out the door with him to dealerships.  From then on we have gone to almost every car show together! 

My husband and I love going to test-drive cars on days off - we even went looking the day after we got married!  It was so much fun to say "Oh, my HUSBAND is over there," "Hold on, let me ask my HUSBAND"!!!!

Wow! I wish my hubby liked cars! His motto: "If it gets me to point A and B, then that's enough car for me".   

That is a sweet car!! Funny how the SUVs (probably not the case w/ the Hybrid) are less than the 8 cyl "cars" you know? At least that's what it seemed like 8 years ago when my then boyfriend and I decided to try cars for fun:)

SWWWEET!  How exciting...I would love to test drive a hybrid.   I think they are definately going to be the cars of the future...with global warming and such!     
My dad is a car junkie...he has so many cool cars, I can't keep track of them.   They are mostly classics!     I like cars, but I never really got into them like you do GL!    ~Ronda P.S....however, I do wish my husband would get his GTO up and going....he has had that since we first started dating....so I am rather sentimental about it.

Congrats on the new ride GL! It looks and sounds awesome! You know when it does get sunny and the car is clean you can put your new goodies on the hood and take a close-up. It would be like some of the pictures other members have taken on top of mirrors! But yours would be the reflection off of your new ride!
