I am so sorry for your loss, DaF.  I'm not much of a people person and associate far more easily with animals, so I feel your pain.  I wish I could be there in person to offer tea and sympathy, hugs and a few tears, and listen to Fudge stories for a while.

I hope you can soon find peace and be able to think of Fudge in cat heaven, or as I prefer, Mousie Hell.

She was the most adorable kitty.  Fudge was short for Fudgicle, which morphed into Fudgepickle, then Pickle. I would call her by saying Pickle three times fast, and she loved it.  She was a petite kitty with a voice that didn't suit her.  She was very affectionate and a lap kitty.

Oh honey,  I'm so sorry!  I feel your pain...It's so hard to have loved ones leave us...and your Fudge is a real beauty!  I lost my sweetheart cat, Lily, just three months ago,  it still hurts.    What a sad day for all cat lovers!  I hope you get extra love from your other cats today.  They will help!   Cry

She wouldn't hurt a fly, as you can see from the picture, she's just been startled by Deuce landing on the top of the cat tree.  So, kitty heaven is where she is, playing fetch with her glitterball.  Tonks are notorious for being dog-like in behavior, and playing fetch was part of that.

She would carry her glitterball around the house like it was a baby, meowing.

DAF I am so very sorry for your loss.  Sounds like you had a truly special kitty there (my cousin has had Tonks and they are a wonderful breed).  My heart goes out to you Sad

Isn't it funny, DaF, how each baby has his or her favorite toy and games?  My Adamma was partial to rattle mice with real fur and feather tails.  She'd play fetch for hours, at least until she met real mice and experienced a real chase.

And Fudge got along with your bird?  Was she your alpha?  Did she have a favorite song to sing, or a special napping spot?

I would buy them boatloads of toys, yet the most simple things are what they loved, for instance, the plastic ring from the lid of the milk jug.  Fudge LOVED my ponytail elastics, when she couldn't find one in the bathroom, she would rummage through my purse.  It was cute to see her head buried in the bag with the elbows coming up as she was moving things around trying to get to the bottom of the bag.

They all loved feathers, but feathers didn't last in this house.

The cats were curious about the birds initially, but after that, not really interested.  On occasion we would let the birds out to get some flying time in (exercise), but the cats weren't interested.

My tonks all sleep together in a pile, more so now that it's getting colder, so Fudge was always with Mom & Dad, her sibs and aunties.  Fudge did like to hang out on top of another cat house, a half pipe, with one arm hanging off.  She loved attention and would always come over for her share when someone else was getting pet.

You couldn't ask for a sweeter kitty.

Her voice resembled that of a siamese cat, and her meow reminder me of Humphrey Bogart "Yeaaaaaaah, see?"  She was a happy kitty, you could tell by the way she trotted and the brightness in her eyes.  I just noticed a few weeks ago that she trotted like her grandfather, MacAvity, whom I lost a little over a year ago to the same intestinal problem.

What a beautiful kitty.  Thinking of you during this tough time.  She was as lucky to have you as you were to have her.  She clearly had a wonderful life with you.

I hope you all don't mind me continuing to post here.

I just remembered something about Fudge this morning:  she loved to do laundry with me.  Specifically, she loved to sit on the newest thing out of the dryer and be covered by the next item out.  Tonks love heat. She was in heaven when she was all snugged up like that.

DaF,  Those special, individual oddities are what make us love each furry baby uniquely.  I doubt anyone here doesn't understand or enjoy the stories about Miss Pickle.  I know your anecdotes remind me of my lovely Adamma, and all her little quirks.  My heart breaks anew, but i so revel in the memories.  And isn't that what grief is about?  To learn to remember those special things about a lost love, and be able to send fresh prayers each and every day?

You are among friends, DaF.  We have all suffered losses. we can all enjoy Fudge's uniqueness, while remembering our own lost loves with fondness and prayers for well being in their next life, even if it sparks a few tears.

Love you, baby qat.  We feel your loss. bighug
