Wow...tough call!  I think that I am more about specific artists and less about time periods.  But, I do love late 70's / early 80's bands and am enjoying watching old stuff on Youtube I haven't seen in years.  (Am loving Billy Squire at the moment for some reason LOL!) But, also love new stuff like David Gray and Matchbox 20 for example.  Like Robin I am from Texas so I love all kinds of country as well.  (Love the Dixie Chicks BTW!)

Of course those of you who know me know of my love for all things Genesis and they don't fall into a single time period.  And, I am actually one of those unusual few who likes things from all of their periods Smiley

Oh and I am not afraid to admit that I like ABBA, Air Supply and Barry Manilow!  There is something to be said for cheese  Grin

I knew we'd have to find a closet Air Supply freak- did it have to be someone I like so much!

You know what? In honor of kleinkath let's all have a listen to this classic!

I'm sorry, KK, David, but, thank goodness video production and HAIR styles have come a looooong, way, baby! My two fav moments were the early big hair shot in front of the Spookarama and the bye-bye wave at the end! And, WHERE did the second guy come from on the beach?  I didn't know WHAT was going to happen. Too funny.

Thanks David! That was hilarious!!!!  I love that they didn't even attempt to lip sync!  And I agree there were a few moments there on the beach where I just wasn't sure  laugh

DJ will appreicate this:  I also absolutely love Marco Borsato who is wildly popular in Holland.  And he is every bit as cheesy if not more so that these guys Smiley  So, you could say that I am an international cheese lover!

I would post one of his videos from Youtube here, but don't know how to do it...

I love music from almost every era.  I played the saxophone, clarinet and piano as a child and developed an appreciation for all genres including classical.  I did, however, pick the 1980s in the poll as those were the songs I heard while I was growing up and have most memories attached to, followed closely by the 1990s and the 1970s.  If you looked at my CD collection you'd find all kinds of strange stuff in there, from Pachelbel to Pearl Jam and from Sarah Brightman to Sheryl Crow, but I'm never bored!

I have to say that I dig the Southern Rock!  I like all kinds of music but that is what I grew up with.  My parents were good friends and neighbors to the producer for the Allman Brothers (and more.)   I was the same age as their daughter.   We would go to Wendy's and eat chilli on the fold down trays in the back of their Rolls Royce.

The keyboard player for the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton used to drive our car pool.  HA!!!!!!!

We LOVE rabbits here... that's why we have THREE.  But, I'm afraid they don't come with a cool Rolls Royce featuring fold-down trays in the back seat! Sorry, I'm an animal lover and all, but, this time, the Allman Brothers producer and the Rolls beats the bunnies, hands down.  Wink

Classic rock I guess.  BUT I really like guitar players like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton and Joe Walsh.  OK so I'm kinda old.. even though my head acts like I'm BARELY 18.

Don't worry. I hold the "old" record on the music poll so far. At least until someone discovers Hildegard von Bingen... Grin

I'd like to say that although I remember little of what I learned- I went to the High School of Music and Art in NYC- I played the double bass.
We studied all the musical periods- from Gregorian Chants, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern.
Every day after school I was playing Zeppelin, Cream, Tull, Queen and Humble Pie with my band after school......that stuff, I remember note for note to this day.

Anyway, I'm sure of a few things.
1) I forgot a few musical periods
2) OMC will be able to fill the list in- he's the essence of a Renaissance man.
I have a feeling he also knows how to pick a great bottle of wine....

Oh, I know Hildegard!  Her story is actually more interesting than her music, to me anyway.  Thomas Cahill's _Mysteries of the Middle Ages_ has a whole chapter about her.

Hey, I don't think I mentioned... I've joined the community orchestra in a nearby town.  (My story: mediocre amateur violinist.  Played through college, didn't play for 15 years, started lessons again a year ago.)

The orchestra is... okay  Smiley  I'm having fun.  For the first concert, Beethoven 1, Tchaikovsky Capriccio Italien, Mussorgsky Night on Bald Mountain.  My stand partner is 18.  I've performed the Mussorgsky before, with my HS youth orchestra.  That was about five years before my stand partner was born.   tongue3

That's easy. It's always the third one, particularly the last glass of the third one.
