I am not giving you the option to choose multiple options.  Evil You have to pick the ONE decade which you would choose to listen to music from if...let's say you were trapped in a elevator for 10 hours.

I voted for the 60s as that was when I was growing up.  After that I'd say the 70s, but nothing after that.  I gave up listening to music when punk came along.   Grin

OMC, I know that it SHOULD be my Number One pick, but, I'm afraid that I'd have that as my Number Two choice. I'm sure that I'll come back to it in a few years...  Wink

My baby loves music too. Mamma's girl, she's a big fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and she does appreciate Pink Floyd too.

Sadly, she comes alive when she heats Abba. We found this out by accident in an elevator, so DH bought her a CD to listen to in the car. 20 minutes into any car journey, I want to kill him! Grin

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't get into my head. I find myself wandering about singing Swedish cheezy pop all day.

In the past 24 hours, I have listened to 200 years of music: Beethoven, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, all of which I'm learning for my first concert with the community orchestra, and some Rolling Stones, plus the VERY wide range on my lil' iPod Shuffle I use at the gym-- 40s blues through 80s pop, mainly, with a few newer things (Joss Stone, The Dixie Chicks, Fiona Apple) thrown in.

And that's pretty typical for me.

I'd say 50% classical-- when I really have time to LISTEN-- and 50% "songs", from Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, Robert Johnson and B.B. King, through the Stones and Beatles, Zeppelin, The Police, The Eagles, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Bangles (oh, boy, can I ever walk like an Egyptian <LOL>), Mary Chapin Carpenter, and even a little Dwight Yoakam on occasion... I am a Texan, after all....

Do I win the eclecticism award?  Grin

I edited the poll to add what many would call "The real Classics"

I was trained as a classical musician in school- I went to the High School of Music and Art in Harlem NYC back in the middle ages Evil

Seriously- I was a double bass player in the orchestra.

But my love was always guitars of all sorts- and of course the guitar heroes. Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric and Jeff.

Of course when OMC was visiting, I was afraid to put any music on the radio for fear of reveling what a true heathen I am musically...heheh

YES- what a wide and eclectic taste you have Robin!!

PS- I'm also a closet Dixie Chicks fan..... Wide Open Spaces is great....

grateful_diamond- I don;t know if I ever mentioned this, but growing up, I was not really a Grateful Dead fan.
But later in life I was put in the lucky position of playing in a band with a former member of the Dead- Vince Welnick...
Then I really started to love the music.
Garcia and Hunter make the most amazing team as songwriters....

I was a teenager during the 60`s so of course I was well into the Beatles, The Who, Led zeppellin, Rolling Stones etc etc etc. Loved the onset of Motown as well.
I lived in a house where Mom played the piano daily and her "radiogram" belted out everything from big band music to George Formby leaning on a lampost to swan lake played by the London Philharmonic. Most of it on old 78`s vinyl records. Scratchy things they were too !
Then I met my DH and became a fan of his music too. Moody blues, Hendrix, Dylan, Cat Stevens, Bread, Crosby Stills and Nash, Neil Young and so on.
After that it was all downhill because I had 3 sons in 3 different music eras and my house to this day is filled with so many different sounds. In fact every Thursday night and most weekends my spare room has been used for a jamming session by my youngest son and his friends who have their own band.
Tomorrow my youngest son moves out into his own flat with his friends and they`re off to finish Uni and then spread their wings. I haven`t a clue how I`ll cope with the silence !

Hey David!

Wow, how great that must have been.  Agreed on Garcia and Hunter!

My mom was actually a big fan, I have great memories of dancing in the kitchen with my mom to GD and Johnny Cash lol!  So, when the mood strikes, my ipod pumps out a great mix of Johnny and GD and my heart dances with memories of my mom!  Music is great for that, isn't it!

Hey....I'm all out of love.  I'm so lost without you.   Grin
About ten years ago I was at a convention and there was a special fundraising concert.  Guess who played?  Air Supply.   I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that everyone had an absolute blast and that we actually knew the words to sing along.  Afterwards there was a dance party and Air Supply came to it so I got their autographs.   Embarrassed   A group of us went out the next day and bought their greatest hits cd and we laugh about it till this day.

I voted for the 80's music.  My husband and I graduated from high school in the early 80's so we constantly play "who sings it?" when it's 80's weekend on the local radio station.  Of course I always win.   Can you believe that he didn't know that the Violent Femmes sing "Blister in the Sun"?  sheesh.

This is haaaaaaaaaaard!  Every decade (well, from the 70s on) represents something for me, so I would have a hard time choosing.  Each has music to love and to hate.  I don't know!!  Right now my son is totally obsessed with the Jonas Brothers, so I cannot get anything but the Camp Rock CD in my head.  He also has gone through phases of loving Jack Black, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, Dave Matthews, Carrie Underwood, Maroon 5, oh, and Elmo, so we are always on to something else.

Hmm, my gut says 90s, but then I love all the soft rock of the 70s (Dan Fogelberg!).  I don't know...
