The very first diamond that my husband bought me was a little squat marquise from ebay.  It has a faint tint to it and is probably about 1/5 ct or less.  I couldn't tell you anything else about it.

It came in a vintage setting with two teeny marquise on either side (set east-west) that constantly came loose.  When I sold the setting I kept the marquise but didn't do anything with it.

I was looking at it one day out of it's protective container and my son looked with me... you can guess what happend.

For months and months it was lost.  I was so sad.  Not because it has an real monetary value, but I always dreamed of resetting it somehow to wear.

Anyway what does a mom with her kid in school do?  Move furniture Grin  I intentionally took my time looking on the carpet where a desk was (right where I lost it) and sure enough....

I FOUND IT!!!!

I'll be dreaming of something to do with it hopefully soon.  Here are some really old photos I took of it (I should try for better late).  Sometimes it looks almost white, others yellow and sometimes even slightly golden brown...

of course I am open to suggestions for settings too Wink

Congratulations on finding it again!

I can definitely see the brown in the second picture.

BTW: would you mind coming to our house and helping us to locate a lost earring? Wink

Good point.  I'll be right over then Wink

I also found an SD card.  Not sure if it was lost before I pulled all the photos off too.  Feels like finding gold while panning for it in the river Grin

Congrats on finding your diamond!
I never get too worried when I loose something.... of course there is panic initially but it seems to never be lost but only misplaced for a period of time!
I admit a couple years is pushing it but here is to hoping OMC

I hid a movado gold and diamond bezel watch somewhere in my house when I went on vacation. I hid it soooooooo well, I can't remember where it is  Embarrassed . So when your done finding Mrs OMC's earring ,maybe you can pop on down to help me locate my watch?  Grin

Nice find though. I can see this in a halo setting. Maybe a pendant?

I lost one ring for - I think - 3 years.  I lost it while I was home one summer for college.  Then I moved all my stuff out completely and it was still lost.  It took that much time later while helping my dad get some holiday decorations down to find it back.

I also still have a tiny color change sapphire someone gave me.  I opened it up to look at it and the way the friend packaged it made it go flying.  Oh well...

Saqsay good luck finding that Movado watch!  I know I was heart sick when my Tissot went missing for a while.  Fortunately 2 weeks later I found it... I hope the same for you.

This diamond is actually too small for a pendant IMO.  I was thinking a very simplistic ring where it is flush set into a band or a small halo.  It was my first diamond engagement ring so having it set E-W is really appealing to me.  I want it nothing like it was before.

So happy you found it! Having lost and found some sentimental pieces (one for more than 10 years, another found just the other day in the bottom of a big, open box in a warehouse... my DH had tagged the box for throw-out and I was going though it "just to be sure").

I KNOW you are excited.  Dancing_biggrin Dancing_biggrin

You just earned a new nickname...EAGLE EYE.   I think the tension flush band will be a great idea!    chestbump

Good  answer, lc!  Eagle Eye, indeed!  Wish you could help OMC.  Those earrings were phenomenal.  I know Mrs. OMC must miss wearing them despite the incredible collection of jewels she has.

So thinking an E-W tension style mount - sort of stackable, maybe, like that little em cut D just did, R1162? http://rockdiamond.c...imple-elegance-r4162  Me likey!

Trink that is amazing you found it after a decade!!!!  I know that had to make you feel good too!

LOL on the Eagle Eye.  I do notice things that many don't but I was on a small mission before I moved the dresser to where the desk had been.  I knew it fell of the desk so I figured I'd give it one more look.  It had fallen beneath the desk portion that I couldn't see under.

It is tiny, but it is special to me.

I was halfway thinking about the "faux tension" style or even just a gypsy set look (or similar).  I am still thinking rose gold and maybe adding a few more round diamonds scattered into the band as well.  I need to draw it out.

I do think there is a reason why things never worked out with other ideas for a RHR.  I think I knew I wanted that baby marquise back since it was so special to me.  I definitely will be spending time googling to get ideas.

Goody!! All Ive ever found was $50 that I misplaced in an old bag. That little treasure made me do a whoopedy dance! Canīt imagine finding a marquise! I do see a bit of brown in it. I was thinking maybe you could give yourself a rose gold tension set.

All I ever find when I move furniture is dust, legos, little people, stickers and more dust.

All kidding aside, Iīm glad you got it back. I lost an emerald ring my parents gave me when I turned 15 and I still miss it.

Oh, pretty stone! I'm so glad you found it, for sentimental value as well as for having it to wear.

What are your thoughts about setting? Evil

PtyMom I hear you on the dust... dust and more dust.  I vacuumed a little more today and I know I will need to do it a few more times a day until it all goes away.  Of course the vacuum cleaner I had for that floor is now dead so I need to eventually get another.  I hate having to lug my vacuum up and down the stairs for that.

Jen the best part of the stone is that it would allow me to have more money to spend on a setting Wink

Maybe something in sterling that is full of character?  Okay just kidding I am really set on rose gold for that hand.

I'm not quite there yet, but I am sort of thinking of an unconventional 3 stone ring.  I've been looking at stackers for inspiration.  Maybe a textured/beaded band then bezeled round, then marquise, then round...
----o<>o----

Or I could even space things out a little --o-<>-o--?

Again I'm not quite there and I am not finding a whole lot of stuff with marquise in them Sad  Again this is a smallish stone - I want to say it measures about 3x5mm, but I haven't measured it and I can't remember what the jeweler who reset it told me.  Keep in mind this was all well over a decade ago so I don't remember much about it.  I don't even know approximately what color it would be.  It was a vintage piece from ebay when my original engagment ring cracked.  I was so very proud of the ring when I got it though.  I would have kept wearing it forever if I hadn't set it in yellow gold too.  It was easier for me to switch to a gemstone ring than it was for me to reset the diamond again.

Ptymom, I hear you on the dust and lego.  Grin

Clgwli, I have around 40 years of practice ahead of me before I set diamonds. I don't think that would go well for either of us!

LOL I doubt it would take you that long, but I am sure you would want quite a few years of experience before doing something like that.  Honestly as much as I love what you do, I'd never want it set in sterling anyway.

I really have my heart set on rose gold.  I don't have enough in my brain to even talk to David about it yet.  It's all kind of fuzzy so to speak right now.  Maybe next month I'll ask him in person.  I might go soon and try on ideas in public to see if I can get an idea of what I would like.  I'm not going to be 100% traditional with it, but nothing is really cohesive in my head yet.  I think since I've reset this stone once already I really want to get it "right" so I don't want to rush into a design unless I know it is right for me.  I'd rather take many months to figure it out than rush and do it and wind up not liking it.

The stone is in a very safe place in a huge ziplock back too so even if it comes out of the box, it's in something that can't hide so easily.  I do need to get a new see through box though.  I'm sure the coin collector store near by would have a few to buy.  I'd feel better putting it in a different type of box so I could look at it for inspiration w/o worrying about it being lost again Wink
