david  I need help knowing what to look for / finding a guitar.  And, of course I know you know almost as much about those as you do about diamonds!  I need to find a thin (or slim; don't remember the exact word he used) neck electric Fender or Gibson...  Any advice?

That is a VERY tough one KK

Let's use diamonds as analogy.
If a guy buys a diamond for a woman they might get one of these two reactions
1) "I LOVE IT! AMAZING!!"
2) "Is this diamond K color- does it have a GIA report? Is it well cut- what's the table and depth- crown angle? etc

In the second case, a person may be extremely sensitive to very subtle aspects. I'd advise the buyer of that diamond to consult the recipient so as to make sure the intended purchase meets expectations.

In the case of guitars, it's every bit as personal- in some ways more so.
What I love in a neck, others may not.
Even if I suggest a model, brand, there's huge variations in specific examples in terms of neck shape  and size....
What's the budget?

I agree David.  Having played flute for years I know that the differences between horns is huge!  Even the same make and model may have a different sound...

Will have to see a diamond to make the purchase but am thinking about 2K...  Is that realistic?

And, I can tell you that he has limited use of his index finger on his left hand (old bar fight injury apparently...LOL!) which is why he wants the thinner neck...  And, wants electric because he can then manipulate the sounds with the computer to make it closer to accoustic.  Does that make sense at all?

the coolest thing is called the Parker Fly
http://www.ebay.com/...816788#ht_500wt_1413

This looks like a nice one- but I did zero seller research- $2k is what they're going for.
Light as a feather- and extremely thin neck
Plus it has electroncs built in that make it sound exactly like an acoustic guitar!

I had one- and loved it , but traded it for something else after 6 months.
It's made of carbon fiber, I love wood- but it is an amazing guitar.
