Apparently I joined DT  in 2003.

I completely forgot about it because as I now do recall I was sort of  taken a back by their lack of hospitality and well blatant rudeness to me when I first joined.

So I just moved on and  forgot about them till someone mentioned I should also consider looking there for my  latest quest t( a yellow diamond).

well............. After posting what I was looking for,I was contacted  via PM and  at my   listed email  by several  vendors" wishing to help me out.

I found it odd and strangely  scammy that  one of whom said if I give her my credit card number she could get the stone I wanted , then take pictures  of it and then send it to me risk free for 7 days for my approval/HUH?
Pay for something she doesn't  even have sight unseen.
Does anyone think a rational person would do business that way?
I wont. feedback

Yeah, I would say that anyone emailing you with a request for your credit card number should be completely suspect and ignored.  Bizarre and quite scary.

I would think that DR would monitor such things like that.   Instead they completely kick off/ban former posters like myself to the point that I cannot even lurk if I want to!   Let me guess who the rather aggressive vendor is..... Angry      Maven, there is a reason why you forgot about that forum in the first place!!!     Wink

ETA:  I have to say, I do feel bad for the honest Vendors that are there although there are veeery few!  Seems like they chased the good ones off....ala..............DBL!

I get the feeling that there's more than a few scavanger-type vendors that are swooping down on potential buyers via PM and email (other users have commented).  Would be interesting to know if management is openly allowing this or just turning a blind eye.  Seems to be relatively new, as I didn't have any of this when I bought last year.

It definitely shows by comparison how refreshing DBL's style of promotion is....  just stock knockout stones, show 'em off, and the buyers will come running to you!

Ok ladies( and gentlemen)  who are the good guys over there?? I think I joined and lurked and read and  maybe posted less than a hand full of times back in '03.
Completely forgot about that forum, and never bought from anyone there.
Now I am  curious as to who those preferred(?) diamond vendors are and arethey allowed to solicite?I suppsoe so because why else would they be on there.
I don't think  I particuarly like their tactics but   apparently according to the site they have BBB endorsement and maybe some other  stuff.
There are  2 or 3 that contacted me with  stones to show.
Who did you think I was talking about? And if permissible  to post here what happened was DBL a participant there as well?

luvenjewelry,
why did they kick you off the  DT site and who is DR that you refer  to who should be monitoring?
I am wondering if you are allowed to post  links to  posts elsewhere??When I browsed the DL  site  I saw some references to David and DBL.

yeah DBL was a vendor there...  but i wouldn't be contacting that vendor who asked for your CC before you even know what you're getting into...  very odd...  stay away, no rather run away!

Hi Everyone,
Maven the important points you seem to be missing have to do with business, and how forums are run.
We have a forum which has but one sponsor- us.
The place where we used to advertise kicked us off, uncerimoniously- for one reason, and one reason only. Money. Had nothing to do with truth, or how we sell -nothing at all.
Money.
That's the reason that forums exist.
The place we used to advertise gets their revenue from advertisers.
We get ours here by the goodwill CDI generates.
We give something away- for free- in hopes of getting something back.

Now, I keep being cagey about "the place we used to advertise"... why would that be?
I'm not into deception, or censoring people's words.
But more that that I'm REALLY not into advertising the place that threw us ( and all our friends, like luvn) off for money.

Do you think we should build something like this amazing place... remember CDI took, and takes a lot of effort on a daily basis to run- should we go thru that effort then NOT check out and remove links to other sites?

Of course you should remove the links.  Publicity for free for someone, no way.

It doesn't surprise me how low some vendors over "there" will go to make a buck... I have a few ideas who might have PMed you as I know someone was pm'ed before all of us got banned...

We were banned because we were passionate about DBL and they were probably mad that we didn't buy from others.  I'm sorry, DBL will always have my $, the price, customer service, quality of product doesn't compare to others!!!

I go to the other place 1x a week if that and all I see are classified adds, members NOT welcoming others or helping... It's been like that since Jan.

Funny how all the PS people come to DT after they have been banned.  Then of course, the DT people are "supportive" and say "their environment is more friendlier".... Yea.....

I don't think I've ever joined a forum and not remember, but I just recently found out that DT and DR are the same thing!  I post there sometimes, but like yall say, it's not nearly as friendly and active as here.  I used to like PS too, but I suppose I was banned also, I have no idea why.  The only thing I can imagine is that I mentioned some of my diamonds were Leo's, and then, bam!...History...LOL.  Surely that was not it, but I can't think of any other reason!

luvenjewelry,
why did they kick you off the  DT site and who is DR that you refer  to who should be monitoring?
I am wondering if you are allowed to post  links to  posts elsewhere??When I browsed the DL  site  I saw some references to David and DBL.

Snooper told you the main reason..............that we chose to stand by David as he was the only one willing to go out on a limb and speak the truth.   He also did not "shove" his merchandise down your throat.   Because we chose to follow David,  several of us were referred to as plants and shillers....    and a quote by a vendor that I cannot name "ding-ding-ding...another time share sold".........      It became sour grapes for all us and very political!!!  So now we are at an environment that is alot more vibrant, passionate, and alot more fun!    We have a huge friendship base here!    Of course I cannot mention the few vendors that I feel very trustworthy of.     I would never be one to tell someone to keep there eggs in one basket......but you know that David has a great passion for what he does and his merchandise and competive pricing will keep you coming back for more!

Also, like Madora said DT changed it's name to DR.     I abbreviated there name for obvious reasons!   Evil

I thank you David, and all of you who provide this great forum!  I enjoy it so much, and I'm learning too!  I would not hesitate to buy from DBL, and I really believe that all his merchandise is truly of great quality, and wonderful craftmanship, with very competitive prices.  Even if the purchase is only a small one, you'd never notice a difference in the service!

Thanks David and everyone for helping me to undertsand wha the history was.
I guess they left up some posts that still refernce david and DBL.
I became very suspicious of their motives when they immediately PM'd me and wanted to send info to my email address.
