I thank God that I still have so many family members that serve(d), and that they are still with us, including my Dad, at 98, WWII  USN vet - a Lieut. J.G. stationed on a PT boat in the Med for the duration of that war;  My brother-in-law, USN Capt. J. Petykowski who saw active duty in Nam, and the first Gulf war as an  A-4 carrier pilot and instructor, ret’d., my niece USAF Maj. J. Petykowski served 10 years here and overseas, now in the reserves (she’s a new mamma); her husband USAF Capt C. Mulder an F-16 pilot, still on active duty currently stationed in NV; my nephew, USAF Lieut. T Petykowski a C-17 pilot currently stationed in Qatar; and my husband’s step-son USA Pvt. David Foster currently stationed in Afghanistan.  And for all those I can see and cherish, there are thousands of families who are not so fortunate.  Please remember the fallen, the wounded, and their families in your prayers.

Ditto ah2bqat -  Least we forget, those that have served their countries, given their lives so that we can be safe from those that may harm us, we will remember them.

Thank you.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

You too.  Have a great holiday weekend.  And thanks Dad for being an Army sergeant in World War 2.
