I think that I only ever saw it in the ring gallery.  The marquise I remember when it was for sale.  I think that they are both really unique.

Hi Everybody!

Diamonds graded "Grey" by GIA are quite rare.

BUT- of those I've seen, most were dull and lifeless.
It's very rare to get a shiny grey diamond....... of course we'll have one to show you guys in a few moments

Well, I've only seen the ones David gets so I would have said they are gorgeous! But obviously I was seeing the pick of the litter and am therefore spoiled. The ones David had were lively.

Great question Ace!

There's no set answer though.
First we'd look at wat we're trying to bring out.
You're correct that a gray diamond might "bluff" a blue color- in a few cases.
If that's the case, you'd want to do something to bring out the blue....Pink diamonds around? ? ? ? ? ?

In the case of the Emerald Cut above, I saw the gray, and wanted that to become more apparent....we used the yellow sides and it seemed to work.

Interesting thread!

I was quite taken with that gray marquise when it was in the inventory.  WM got a hand shot of it that blew me away.

Pink and Gray -- a glorious combination.  It's actually a HUGE home furnishing concept throughout the 50's, 60's and 80's, and it's coming back retro really big. It works, and it's beautiful.
