Thanks Jen
I don`t really bother which birth stone is for which month, only which ring is for each month.  Evil

All this talk about birth month stones, is it to rub it in that mine is amethyst and I am NOT fond of amethysts.  Now May would have been better (and I would have been a bit younger too) LOL.  What month is ruby?  That would have been nice.

RUBY is the current month! Wink   I have never really cared for my birthstone (Peridot)..August.    I think it is mostly because of the ones that I have seen,  are just not that pretty.   I would want one of the real expensive, museum quality peridots.............Imagine that! angel

I am imagining it!  But not even my imagination can get a museum quality amethyst into my head. LOL

AZ you will know.  I happened to me not once but twice two days ago when listing my K cushion.   You will get an email from someone telling you that they used the buy it now and would like for you to only accept their payment through Paypal and then a story along the lines of I would have you ship it to my US address, but I am in the UK for business so could you send it to my relative in Nigeria.  They will even go so far as to send a fake email confirming a fake Paypal payment.  It won't come from the normal Paypal address.  And, in my case they made it out to an email account that isn't associated with my Paypal account!

Luckily I recoginized it, and eBay notified me alos in an email that it was a bad bidder.  I was able to get my listing fees refunded, but was frustrated that it happened twice within a matter of hours!  Thankfully the ring sold through someone here on the board so I didn't need to relist it again.  And, so far my gizmos are listed without a problem.

Jessica,  you will get notified that you are paid via email, but what you do is open a new window in your browser and check your Paypal account that way.  Don't do anything via an email that you receive.

If you have any doubts check their feedback, etc.  These people that were trying to scam me had 0 or private feedback.  Also, my auction very clearly said don't bid if you have under 20 feedbacks without contacting me, and I will not ship outside the US so I knew that they hadn't read it.

I don't know what system you all use for creating your listings, but I use Turbo Lister, and there is an option for blocking bidders with certain criteria.  I make my criteria as tough as it allows, ie, blocking certain countries of origin, bidders with negative feedback, bidders with less than a certain number of positive feedback, etc.  Once I started doing that the number of fraud and scam attempts has definitely been reduced.

I'll have to try that GL.  I usually just do it directly through eBay.

I see.  So in normal circumstances when somebody legit buys your item, and then uses paypal i will simply get a e-mail notification from paypal and then how long following that is the payment posted into my account.  Id want to know that i received payment before i ship.  Thanks for all the info

Jessica, it takes about 5 days for paypal to get the money into your bank account.  What I do is notify buyers immediately that I have received their payment and that I will ship it after it has cleared my account.  Then I notify them when it has and when I have shipped.  No one seems to complain as long as their are informed along the way.

I am pretty sure you can do it through ebay too, but I don't know how.  They have pretty good live help who can walk you through it.

Good to know! I did sell one clarinet once and thankfully I didn't get scammed..  I thought paypal was fool proof until my girls let me know!!! Good idea to wait for the money to clear until you ship!

Also once you get receipt that your payment was sent to you via email,Like KK said, open up a new browser window to Paypal , go to withdraw funds, and make sure that you physically transfer it to your account.  It does take 3-4 business days to show up.......but you don't want thier payment to you sitting in limbo land.   Once the money shows up in my account, I notify the customer that I am sending it....Like GL said.

I never knew about that  Turbo Lister.    I guess maybe that is best to use if you are selling a higher dollar item......but wouldn't hurt to use it anyways, right?    Is there a fee to use that GL?
