DH and I are off to Tahiti next month for our third cruise around the islands.  Our first two Tahitian cruises were on the Tahitian Princess, this time we've gone a bit more upmarket and will sail on the Paul Gauguin.

We have also cruised to Alaska, four times together and another time I went with a friend.  The Alaska cruises were on a mixture of Princess and Celebrity ships.

Next February we are due to cruise the Caribbean on the new P and O ship, Ventura, with DH's middle brother, his partner, her daughter and BIL's younger son.  This cruise wouldn't have been my first choice as it is marketed as "family friendly" which means hordes of children running around everywhere.  Personally I'd prefer adult only cruising.

As you said Sanchica, cruises are definitely addictive, I love cruising and would do more of it if it wasn't so expensive from here in the UK.  I assume you're in the US, which means you pay a lot less than we do and you also have cruises that are not available to UK customers.

Happy cruising!

hahahha!  i always do avoid the auctions, i think they're pretty random...

i have only ever been on royal caribbean but i have loved every minute of them.  i haven't had to many problems with tons of kids being around because we tend to stick to the adult parts of the ship as well as the later dining...i haven't thought about going on any of the really expensive cruise lines yet.  we just booked royal caribbean's new oasis for august of 2010 and it was only about 2500 for the two of us.  for anyone who's looking for a basic do anything you want wen you want cruise i can recommend royal!

I have cruised a few times on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess. The Carnival cruise was my first and I was very young...to the Bahamas after HS graduation. The Royal Caribbean cruise was in 06, and it was a really nice cruise. Those ships have a LOT to offer passengers and the staff was very friendly. This cruise was to the Western Caribbean...Cozumel, Cayman Islands, Haiti, and Montego Bay, Jamaica. Great cruise.

I have to say though, the best cruise of my life was the Alaskan Cruise on Princess, the Coral Princess. I went in 05 with my family for my parents 35th wedding anniversary. This was the best vacation of my entire life, and I travel a lot. It met and exceeded any expectations I had and then some. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience, and I encourage anyone who is considering it, or has the opportunity to take this cruise! Princess was wonderful. The food was fantastic, the ship was easy to navigate, and the staff was amazing. To me, this is what a cruise is all about.

I have friends who take a Windjammer cruise every year and love it, however, I get too much motion sickness for the smaller boats, so I have to pass on this one. Hope this helps.

I've sailed Royal Carribean once, and it was awesome.

Nowadays a lot of cruises leave right from the west side of Manhattan- makes it very convenient for us New Yawkas...
Do you leave from NYC Sanchicha?

I took my first cruise this past November.  I knew I would enjoy the cruise but I had no idea just how fabulous and memorable it would be.  It was a 7 night eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic and it was the best vacation we have ever taken.  We loved it so much that we recently booked it again for 2009!  I know that a lot of people without children get scared away because of the thought of all those kids running around plus all the Disney characters.  Let me just say that our friends went with us and they do not have young children (empty nesters), have cruised many other cruise lines, and they were blown away by the "over the top" quality and attention to detail on the Disney ship.  There are characters on the ship but they are not around all that often.  There are plenty of adult only areas and plenty of children areas so it's a great combination for families.  My son loved the kids club so much that some days we had to drag him away.   Plus, Disney's private island is amazing!

hi all. hmmmm. i have been on a greek island cruise and a cruise down the rhine river in germany.  i have also been on a couple of gambling cruises but thats about it. my hubby likes carribean cruises and has been to alot of the different islands, mexico and such. however i am into going to europe. i haven't gotten the hubby to go that far. unfortunately the dollar doesn't go very far over there, right now, so maybe mexico, grand caymen or the virgin islands would be more practical.
