Great toys everyone!

I love my baby 'Stella" she is a 1966 Chev Impala SS convertible, 396 big block, red with a black interior and top.

She was my grandparents-so very special to me  icon_flower

This is not my car or an SS, but as close as I could find---all my pics of her need to be scanned in and our scanner is sooooo slow!  I mean it takes hours for a photo-ahg!

ROFL! DL isn't playing nice!!

Pip, I think these little cars are better suited to the petite frame. One of my colleagues drives one when he needs a pool car and he is over 6ft and bulky. We all stop what we're doing to watch him get in and out Grin

Oh, the itty bitty car is CUTE!
David, Good Lord!  Why did you sell that Porche???

Here's a pic of my father-in-laws '56 on my daughter's prom night...

My FIL builds them from the bottom up.  You wouldn't believe what it looked like before.  He has a red truck too, it's awesome.  That's his pride and joy.  He has a pic of his truck with all the grandkids on it, and a t-shirt that says "Grandaddy's pride and joy"...lol

I just showed the Smart Car to my 13-yr-old.  I told her we'd get that for her first car to save on gas.  She was hilarious, and said in the way only a 13 yr old can..."OOOOOKKK  Momma!"  I got the eye roll and a generous show of braces!  I suppose one would have to be a smart driver when driving the smart car, hit a dog, and he's ok, but you're history!

LOL, yall are nuts!

You think that's bad Madora--one time DW and I were just starting the process of shopping for cars. We would go to the lots after closing and walk around without getting the sales people bugging us. This one particular night, I stepped in front of a car that I was obviously smitten with and said:"I like her headlights" (couldn't believe myself I said "her").
DW shot me a sideways glance and said: "I'm sure you do" then walked away...

Oh and by the way--you don't think it's weird that people around here are naming their diamonds?

What's wrong with naming things? All of our New Beetles have names... in fact conversations sound like this: "So is Cleo behaving? She threw a shift linkage at 3 am...ouch! Rodney was shooting the overheat light in Winchester...been running cold since NY....oh wait...isn't Felix's birthday coming up? Hard to believe he is nine already...Yeah, he is a Leo...Rodney is a Sagitarrius...Oh, Maria? She got a B in French this time and is looking for summer work" Yes...3 VWs and one human child in a conversation...its an Org thing...
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to whatever gender the bug is...husband's and mine were both male before we ever met, and we have about a 50/50 gender split among our friends...

Naming things is cool!  Now, what can I call my '04 Toyota Corolla?  We bought "her" in Oct. of '03, "she's" moonshadow metalic, grey interior, and well, she's a good ole gal.  She had 2 miles on her when I bought her, now she's got over 40,000.  I hope to get to keep her for a long time, I'm attached!  Here's a small pic off the Toyota site, mine's just like this...

Oh, my very first car was an '81 Toyota Corolla named Samantha (I have no idea why).  She was white but I had her painted red, and the person who owned her before me had a sunroof put in that dripped horribly in the rain.  Poor thing ended up smashed in half one night by some drunk kids in a truck.  She was parked when they hit her, so I was fine - well, exceot for the fact that I had lied to parents about where I was going to be so that I could spend time with a boyfriend they hated!  Um, they were not pleased, to say the least.

David, that just sucks about your wedding theft!!!  How terrible!  I can, however, see why you traded that diamond.  What a gorgeous car!!!  The black one ain't so bad either.  How about I trade you for my new ring?!?!?!?!?!

DL I think it is common to all sunroofs.  My husband looks at the sky and then runs out and makes sure he has something over his beloved BMW´s sunroof.......  I walk out and forget my umbrella and I want to go back and get it.......LOL..........you´re ok a bit of rain won´t hurt you.
I love the Toyota Celica.  My aunt wanted a new car and knew the one she wanted but didn´t know what the make was.  She and my Uncle were out driving and suddenly she saw the car she wanted, they went into a mad chase until she could see what the make was and the next day her Celica was ordered.
My uncle I am sure had his faults but he certainly knew how to pamper his woman.

Well, this one sort of gushed more than dripped to be honest.  The night it got smashed was very rainy.  I had two friends with my and the one sitting back had to ride with a towel over her head, and we still refer to her as ET sometimes!

What a stunning car, David. Classic!

I had a Series III Landrover for many years, but I don't have any digital pics. I found a pic of a very similar one - . It had an aluminium bulkhead and a 2.4l petrol engine (17 miles to the gallon!!!).

Currently driving my wedding present from DH - a Citroen Xatia Activa (2L high pressure direct injection turbo diesel, goes like sh*it off a shiny shovel, but getting on a bit now). I've ordered a Citroen C6 but they are giving me the runaround on this purchase - not a great experience so far, although it is a very beautiful car. I'm one more irritating / delaying phonecall away from cancelling the order and looking for something else.  Angry

Jen

What do you drive, Pip? Always curious to see people's cars!

I love seeing everyone's car pics!  We have a five car garage and between all of our everyday vehicles and play vehicles it's full.  My play car is a '79 VW Beetle convertible and my hubby's current play car is a '71 Olds Cutlass.  He is looking for a 55 Chevy so when he finds "the one" he plans on selling the Cutlass.  I don't ever plan on selling my beetle.  It's just too cute, plus it only has 43,000 original miles.  I'm looking for pics so I'll post one if I can find something.

My son drives a better can than I do...a BMW Z4.  Here's a pic.
