Hey Diamond Brothers and Sisters!
We have nothing but lover, respect- admiration, adoration for the fairer sex- some of whom also love cars and guitars.

Anyway let's see whatcha got!

Start out with a car that I really loved.
She was the car of my dreams for years before I first started driving.
Once I opened Rock Diamond Corp on April 1 1998, my life changed.

I bought "El Gatto" on October 3 2000.
Here she is the day I got her.

I bought her off a guy from Brooklyn, who had the car trucked in from California.
It was a Friday afternoon, and I drove straight to 47th Street- where the above shot was snapped.

1969 was arguably the peak year for American cars. That car had a 500 cubic inch motor pushing out gobs of horsepower and torque.
You could easily light the rear tires if you were heavy with your right foot.
This was certainly a pretty car- distinctive, and 100% American.

A back seat which could hold three large people with room to spare.

A trunk that would easily hold the luggage of the six occupants ( or three bodies if you're from a particular town in northern NJ.......he heheheh

A hood you could land a small plane on.....

Of course in 1969, cars in general were nowhere near as efficient, or reliable as modern cars.

After breaking down ( for at least the fourth time) in the middle of the night on Rt95 in Connecticut I decided to move on and sell .....

Of course many great memories after driving that car over 20,000 miles......

Love that car--especially the white leather interior!!!
My first car was a 1973 Cutlass Supreme with white landeau roof and white leather interior--looked similar to this...Let me tell you--I'd pull this gem up to the beach I lifeguarded at and it got some real attention...sigh..I really miss that car Sad

Sweet Car!
I had the joy of driving a '74 similar to yours up to New Hampshire from NYC in 1975

It had a 350 V8, yes?

Oh I love cars!!!  Can I play?  Unfortunately, all the pictures of my past babies are not digital and I don't have a scanner, but among them were a:

-1982 convertible Chrysler Dodge 400 - white with red interior - same year and colors pictured in a book of classic California convertibles;

- 1985 Jeep CJ7 - black with tan interior - my boyfriends, when breaking up with me, used to still suggest we take it off roading together - NOT;

- 1992 BMW 325 convertible - light blue with dark interior - GORGEOUS and fun!!  When it died I got a black 2000 BMW 325, followed by a silver 2002 BMW X5.  I am still hooked on BMWs, but I am trying to be more fuel efficient, so I went to my new Lexus hybrid, which drives like a dream.

I would love to get a biodiesel version of a big old classic convertible someday!!  I wonder if I could make it work with 1966 Ford Mustang?  That would be my DREAM!

Also, my brother had a 1963 Datsun Fair Lady that was just incredible.  It was a 3-seater (the back seat faced sideways), cherry red with black interior, and looked somewhat like that classic Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  He had to get rid of it when he moved to San Franciso, as it could not handle the hills.  The license plate was LIZAD63.  Cute, huh.  No one ever got it.

David, would love to see the Porsche you for that ring!!  Do you still have it?

Oh, this will be fun!  My FIL fixes up and collects old cars/trucks.  He goes to car shows all over.  He happens to live next door, so I'll try to grab some shots tomorrow.  His fav is his '56 Chevy, red and white.  DH drove away the bride and groom at a wedding, and my daughter and son-in-law drove away in it after their wedding.  As far as the geee-tar thing, DH has a Martin I surprised him with last Christmas, and he has a couple fiddles.  One is just a basic, the other is pretty nice.   I'll post pics of those also.

What a stunning car, David. Classic!

I had a Series III Landrover for many years, but I don't have any digital pics. I found a pic of a very similar one - . It had an aluminium bulkhead and a 2.4l petrol engine (17 miles to the gallon!!!).

Currently driving my wedding present from DH - a Citroen Xatia Activa (2L high pressure direct injection turbo diesel, goes like sh*it off a shiny shovel, but getting on a bit now). I've ordered a Citroen C6 but they are giving me the runaround on this purchase - not a great experience so far, although it is a very beautiful car. I'm one more irritating / delaying phonecall away from cancelling the order and looking for something else.  Angry

Jen

What do you drive, Pip? Always curious to see people's cars!

My dream car is just a dream at the moment.  I would love one of those little "Smart" cars made by Mercedes.  Tiny, just enough for me and one grandchild at a time and the dog too of course......Problem is that my husband loves his old car that he gave to me when he bought his new BMW and he won´t let me!!!  He says after putting so many years of loving care into his Nissan Sunny he wouldn´t dream of getting rid of it......so my little Smart For2 is out of the question for now.........sob sob.  The colours are fabulous as well, green and black, yellow, sky blue etc etc.

Oh, just buy one! It's your car! Grin  If DH tried to give me his old car while he got an upgrade, I would drive it over him lol!

I had a Smart Roadster for a while though, and I really didn't like it. I felt quite vulnerable in it. I'm used to big cars - maybe it was just the contrast. Test drive is the answer!

Great toys everyone!

I love my baby 'Stella" she is a 1966 Chev Impala SS convertible, 396 big block, red with a black interior and top.

She's going in to get some work done this week---so bye bye $$$(new Carb. and Distributor) and then some new shoes!

I'll see if I can find some pics Smiley

She was my grandparents-so very special to me  icon_flower

This is not my car or an SS, but as close as I could find---all my pics of her need to be scanned in and our scanner is sooooo slow!  I mean it takes hours for a photo-ahg!

You couldn´t park one of those big cars here, mind you there is a man who stops his car just over the road from us to buy his newpaper.  A bright red Ferrari.  The longest car I have seen here is the Bentley sports model which also buys its (??) newspaper across the road.  My reason for liking little cars is the parking problem.  Have you seen the new (perhaps only for here) system where you put automatic parking and it measures the space and parks absolutely by itself. The one I saw was in a BMW but I am sure I am just being behind the times.  For me that would be   Heaven, absolute Heaven.

Joia, I'm a shorty, and not-so-good at parking either, so my little car suits me.  I'll try to grab a pic of it when I get some of the others.  The gas milage is great, especially now since gas is so expensive!

David, I love to look back at the big cars, brings back memories!  I can remember when learning to drive, it felt like driving a boat...lol.  I don't think I could keep one of those between the lines now.  Do yall remember how it was before power steering?  I can remember so well my grandfather driving his Chevy truck, gears on the column, no power steering.  It seemed like he turned that steering wheel a hundred times in one direction to turn around.  As a child I remember the steering wheels being so LARGE!  I have memories of "sitting inside" one, (legs through the bottom, hands on top, and swinging back and forth, playing!  I was probably 4 or5.

Hey Joia, my DH has a Smart forfour and it's brilliant!  That thing is fast and it takes corners like you wouldn't believe!  I love it when he's home because I get to drive his car and I go a bit mad - it's so different from the family van that I drive.  I have to say though, the suspension is hard so you feel every bump but the heated leather seats make up for it.  We really, REALLY like it!  You will never again have a problem with parking either!   Grin

Madora what height do you call a shorty?  I am 5´2".  A friend tried to drive her husband´s big car and took it round the block and when she got back her husband said it looked like one of those toy cars with no driver.LOL.
DJ that forfour sounds terrific, my only reason for a fortwo is that I could be by myself and shop until I drop without others??? getting impatient.  Post pics please.  By the way weren´t they clever with those names?  Have you noticed that the toys for the boys is turning into a toys for the girls...... I think that will probably change when they get started on their motorbikes, but then again you never know.

The organisation I work for has a fleet of those for pool cars. They are beyond cute, but not much protection if something big hits you - I always feel vulnerable when I drive one.
