My law school had its annual spring dinner/dance/awards thing last night. I didn't go last year, and wasn't sure how formal it was. I bought a black halter style dress, with uneven style hem, but not full length, and some strappy black and rhinestone sandals.

Just to make sure I looked formal, I added 21+ carats of diamonds:
10 carat diamond necklace
2.5 carat diamond hoops earrings
5.5 carat ring on one hand
3.2 carat ring on the other

I WISH I had thought to have hubby take a picture! Ugh. Anyway, it was fun to get dressed up, since we very rarely do. Oh, and I won a scholarship for demonstrating leadership and academic ability! Smiley

IMHO, you could have gone casual and dressed it up with those beauties and made it formal.  Congratulations on your scholarship!   Grin

I don't have a pic from last night, but here is the stuff I wore:

So imagine all of that- black low cut dress, high heel black shoes, blonde hair partly up and the back in curls.....  Grin

Well done you - that's great news about the scholarship. Congratulations. Love your diamond necklace too. I'm going to the Law Society ball in a couple of weeks and I'm already suffering diamond dilemmas. I'm having some sapphires re-set and I'm tempted to go with them if they're ready in time, but not sure if I could leave my DBL pear at home.

Tough choice! Actually, having seen your photos, however did you choose??

Since my dress was black, I wanted to wear only white diamonds (no colored stones). That necklace, while it doesn't really look it in that photo I posted, looks pretty showy, and it really the only fancier type diamond necklace I have. Same for the earrings- I wanted more than just studs. As for the rings, I do have several big ones, but the 5.5ct. is my largest total carat weight ring and looks very blingy on, and the anniversary band matches my necklace and my earrings nicely. And, I will admit I thought it about having a high carat total and wanted to make it over 20....lol

My dress is black too, so white diamonds only sounds like the best plan. Unfortuntely, to hit the 20ct mark, I'd have to wear everything I own, all at the one time. Which would mean getting more piercing done! LOL

Wish you'd got a photo of the overall effect though, bet you looked stunning.

That necklace must have looked amazing with the dress and hairstyle...humm, mind doing a re-creation shot?

Congrats on the scholarship as well!
