2,000 year old earring found in Jerusalem

Did anyone see the news about this archaeological find? Not only is it stunning, and remarkably well-preserved, but it looks like it has two "gizmos" attached to the bottom.

Wow. What an amazing story. And a beautiful piece... classic. Easily one could wear it today (I wish that I could!). It is hard to believe that something so small, made of gold and featuring PEARLS and EMERALDS, two precious materials that normally need special care, could survive intact, buried, for soooooooooo many years. I'm impressed.

I see what you mean, Greeneyedbass, about the gizmos; it does appear that the two danglies, each with an emerald and smaller pearl, could be "unhooked" from the larger pearl above them.

if they could build the pyramids in egypt 5,000 years ago, or the coliseum in Rome, why not a dangly earring?? remember the fab jewelry worn by caesars sister in gladiator??? or how about russell crowe in a skirt............ Cheesy
