Ooh this pissed me off the other night...

I have been wanting an eternity band with E-W set baguettes for a while.  So, I have been watching them come and go on eBay waiting for the right one at the right price.

Well, I found a couple the other night that were the look that I wanted.  They were offered by the same seller.  One had a higher carat weight than the other by about .50 carat and was priced accordingly.

Anyway, this seller had the SAME picture of a ring in both listings.  It wasn't a stock photo, it was an actual picture.  But since the two rings were different, how could there be only one picture?

So, I wrote to the seller asking to clarify which ring the picture belonged to.  Her answer was:

"I OWN 2 IDENTICAL RINGS WITH DIFFERENT TOTAL DIAMOND WEIGHT, PICTURE POSTED IS OF ACTUAL RING OFFERED FOR SALE."

Okay...does that make any freakin' sense???  So, I politely wrote back asking for a picture of the ring I was interested in, and got this response:

"WHY DON'T YOU GO TO A RETAIL STORE , LOOK AT THE RING AND PAY RETAIL PRICE, AND DO NOT WASTE MY TIME BY ASKING A QUESTION IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION TO TRUST MY ANSWER."

Needless to say, I no longer look at this seller's auctions.  Can you believe the nerve?  I reported it to eBay and emailed David to see what he could do for me!

Ugh!  I always believe that any seller who gets so defensive is hiding something.  Was this a store or an individual selling?  Scary!

I have been thinking of the same kind of ring if I keep my Pink Panther.  Cannot wait to see what David makes up for you!

Your question was perfectly valid, so since the seller got so defensive, I would agree that he is definitely hiding something and you're better off not dealing with him.  It's just a guess, but the seller is probably not used to dealing with "diamond" educated buyers such as you.  I hate when sellers use the same pictures for different rings.

I can't wait to see what David can do for you!

Some people are so stupid!! It never ceases to amaze me!! Why on earth would they treat a potential customer in that manner, I'll never know.

Yup, I was about to say the same!!! People have no tact sometimes... If it was that simple, you wouldn't have asked in the first place.  How rude of her!

What a MORON!!!!!! Ugg!!  At least you know now BEFORE you bought anything what a jerk this seller is.

IMO EVERY piece of jewelry should be photographed! Just because it's the same style, each will look slightly different depending on ct wt and color, setting workmanship.. etc.

What an a** hole! I agree with DL at least you found out what kind of person this seller is BEFORE you bought anything from them. I also agree with the thoughts that if someone gets so defensive over a simple question then they have something to hide. I think the truth of the matter is, it IS the same picture and you actually called them out on it!

You guys are all right...definitely hiding something.  How hard is it to take one more picture??  Also, it wouldn't have been AS BAD, if she had said something like "picture is of the ___ct ring, the ring in this listing is similar, but has __ct of diamonds".  At least I would have been alerted to the fact that it wasn't the ring that was being sold.  Ooh, I am still pissed off!!

I went looking for this seller on Ebay last night!  Gosh that's just a disgusting way for that seller to behave.  Betcha glad to have found out before you bought the ring, huh?!

Let us know what David says.  I have a sneaky feeling a lot of the girls here would love E/W baguette bands!

HI Everyone,
We are totally different that any other eBay jewelry seller- so my strong advice is: EXCERSISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN SHOPPING JEWELRY ON eBay.
There's just so much misrepresentation there ( jeez , I sound like someone we used to know)

I'd say a private individual selling at a low price might be worth investigating- but most of the "professional" sellers are anything but.

If somoeone is looking for something, let us know.
For example...we CAN do E-W baguette bands.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience, and thank goodness you realized what was going on.

I really like the idea of an e/w baguette band.  They look so sleek and classic.

Sorry to hear about that Carathead. I don't blame you for feeling offended & pissed......I would too! I can't believe she would be that rude to a potential customer! I agree with what everybody else has said----she definitely is hiding something! Thank God you didn't buy the ring from her!

Maybe David could make you one.?. And then you'd know the quality would be EXTRAORDINARY!!!!

Sorry to hear that!

Here is a very simple handy free website--put in the ebay seller's name and you can see a list of all negative feedback in a row

If anyone has one I would love to see it next to a ring with baguette sides to get a feel for whether prong set or channel set looks better.  Usually before buying something like this I go try them on in B&Ms, but I think one of these would be pretty hard to find just laying around.
