Does anyone else get as disgusted as I do when you search through ebay and find something that is ridiculously inconsistent with the advertised info?  For example, this item is described as a "fancy yellow asscher cut diamond".  It looks like a presucked butterscotch candy to me.

Ugh, I've decided to offload a pair of earrings on eBay (my mistake for not buying from DBL, huh?) and seeing as we all hate dishonest eBay sellers, I was hoping you guys would give me some tips on how to make a good listing. I'm going to put up ACTUAL shots of the earrings (not stocks like the guy who sold them to me) and like David does on the DBL listings, point out the good and the bad so they know what they're getting.

The same seller (using the same stock photo, surprise) is selling an identical pair of earrings to the ones he sold me: same ctw, colour, clarity etc, and for a horrific amount.

I'm hoping that by being honest about the product and not being heinous on the asking price, I'll be able to swing someone to buy mine instead of his: sure, they're the same earrings, but ther person who buys them from me won't be shocked when they see carbon in their studs Tongue

From the height of my total eBay feedback of 6 (!), I'll just say this: an honest description with good pictures, a touch of humour where appropriate, and caring for your buyers go a long way. That's how I decided to trust David with a custom-made ring... and I'm kind of picky on jewellery.

I would not refer to the seller where you bought the piece, unless asked - in which case I'd answer truthfully. Make it plain it's a private sale rather than an ongoing business, and keep reserve and starting bid as low as you can afford. Also, buy a few of the marketing options on eBay (e.g. priority listing) - there's so much stuff that your ad will get swamped unless something makes it stand out.

Good luck SB!  Smiley
