5.  Almost all aquamarine on the market has been heat treated.  Care has to be taken not to overheat this mineral or an unwanted effect can occur.  What is that effect?

"becomes colorless" - 1 point to GL.  Fading was real close Trinkette.   Undecided  How about we come back to this if it's a decider at the end?

 vanadium and chrome tanzanite (chrome zoisite) obtains its vivid green coloration from its chromium content.
