HI Everyone!
We make a lot of jewelry with pink diamonds. I thought you guys might like to get a behind the scenes look at part of how we do it.
One of our cutters had a parcel of delightful pink melee ( small diamonds) -perfect for a lot of the micro-setting jobs we do in pink gold.
These are small diamonds- yet they have all same facets as a 5 carat round diamond. They are really well cut- which makes them even more desirable to us.

One of the pink diamond jackets (you actually win a pair). You win the jackets and not the stud centers.

How small are they?
Diamonds used in micro-setting are referred to in either by the following distinctions:
1) how many equal one carat? If 100 diamonds ( of equal size) weigh one carat, those are .01ct each. That's 1/100 of a carat- or one pointers.

2) The millimeter size. That's actually more important in jewelry manufacturing because you need the small diamonds in precise millimeter sizes to get the best setting results.
The diamonds we bought are 1.2millmeter- and very "straight" in size. They are 150 per carat, or about .0066ct each

I don't see any brown in these- they look like Fancy Light Pink  to me.
They were so very nice, we bought the whole parcel.
We will find use for these in our pink halo rings- as well as the pink gold/ pink diamond earring jackets- a pair of which is the prize in this contest.
The contest:
Guess how many pink diamonds are in the cup in the video. If no one guesses exactly, The closest person ( either over or under) wins.

Of course we're going to make you jump thru that second hoop and guess the exact weight of these diamonds.
In the event of a tie the person who guessed closest to the weight- without going over- wins.

The prize will be a pair of pink diamond pink gold earring jackets in any of the three sizes we offer.
We're currently making the first pairs of these and should have photos up soon.

Rules and restrictions:
1) The contest is open to anyone who can view a you tube. Entries must be made on the forum.  If you're not a member, you'll need to join to participate
2) Void where prohibited
3) A small shipping charge may apply $1495 to anywhere in the us
4) Rule number three is hereby voided. Evil
5) Not open to DBL employees or associates
6) The contest runs from now until noon on January 4 2008 Eastern Standard time US . The winner to be announced that evening.
7) Please make sure your entry has both guesses- the number of stones and the total weight
Cool no edits on answers- we will again have a "second Guess" option. You may post your first guess- and it will stand- unless you decide you want to make a second guess ( after seeing some others' guesses), the second guess is final.

So here we go

Oh my.  My old job used to involve a lot of event planning, and people always wanted me to guess-timate how many people had attended.  It could have been 30 or 3000, I would NEVER get it right!  Ah well.  What a great prize though!!!  Does anyone have a computer program that counts pink blips on your screen??

Okay, when I clicked the play button the screen says "We're sorry This video is no longer available"  What the heck does that mean?  Is it a problem on my end or is the video link messed up? Oh the saddness... I really wanted to see those pinks! Huh?
