I posted this on another diamond forum thinking that they would be all into this...and it turns out they were BORING as usual and did not answer...soooo LET'S PLAY HERE!  


True story: I just got back from spending the evening with Gabi Tolkowsky and his wife.  She was wearing 3 stacked pave bands on her left hand, but what do you think his wife's engagement ring looked like?  Keep in mind... she told me the story of how the first diamond he gave her was very small, but this was her latest upgrade.

There was a fundraiser for the local symphony and he was there...I am not sure why!  You could stand and talk to him for as long as you wanted.  He was a deep dude...he was just talking about diamonds are like the light in the sky with an eagle flying over head...no talk about ratios and AGS scores.  I think his whole message was that people get turned on to different diamonds and pieces of jewelry and if it makes you say "WOW" then you need it.   He actually said if it makes you say "W-O-W, WOW!"  The bad part is everything makes me say that. 

It was NOT a Gabrielle diamond.

Colorless cushion solitaire? Or, maybe, a pretty pink with colorless buddies... ? Hum. My first thought was a big, honking yellow... Of course the obvious choice would be some sort of ginormous RB. Hmm...
Her first engagement ring was a 0.40ct heart given to her in 1960 and stolen from their house in 1968.
Tolkowsky has since created cuts with additional facets on all of the standard shapes.
However, he is a site-holder for De Beers and sells the Cut by Tolkowsky Triple Excellent Ideal Cut Hearts and Arrows.
He is brilliant , but I think also sentimental, as he still looks for that heart that he cut for his wife.  Did he try to recapture the sentiment of the original heart?  No, he's an artist, and knows that the moment is gone.  I think he stayed with his family's tradition.
Hence, I am guessing that she has a 5 carat Cut by Tolkowsky Round Brilliant. D, IF.   Huh?

Yes,
Gabi is a very unique individual.
I've also enjoyed spending time with him.

I'll guess and say a Fancy Yellow Radiant ( I have never met his wife, nor did I ever ask what she wore, so I'm not cheating!)

I first thought the G. Tolkowsky would give his wife a bodaciously cut diamond, but  his special cuts are sold by companies that do not carry his name.  I just have that feeling that he would not put on his wife's finger, a special cut that he has done for someone else.

Secondly, if it was a spectacular cut, I would expect GIA Girl to exuberantly share that with us immediately with a picture taken covertly with her cell phone.   1224   As we all know GG angel is very resourceful.  (At least I would have attempted to snap a picture!)

Actually, perhaps it was a beautiful, but modest RB of exquisite cut. Maybe around half a carat?

GG,

Were the stacked bands on her left hand on her ring finger?  Were they made of colorless or colored diamonds?

Did her ER have a pave band?  Where was her ER situated, on top of the stack or in the stack?

I'm beginning to think that Gabi gave her another much larger D, IF, no fluorescence, Heart.
