This is the first diamond I've seen here where the clarity may be an issue, but I love the cut and colour!

I know what you're saying about the imperfection- I had the same question.
But the cutter of these stones specializes in rare colors specifically, and answered the question.

AS I had suspected, removing the imperfection would remove a great deal of the body color of the stone.
This imperfection is on the girdle and could have easily been polished off- but it was left there on purpose
The imperfection is actually visibly brown, when you examine the diamond with a loupe. This is mentioned on the GIA report.
Maybe it's the color, which is clearly mesmerising- but try as I might I can't spot the imperfection naked eye.

David, thats why your opinion is valued so much. If you tell us the imperfection is not a problem with the naked eye thats great!

Amen, Rumple.  That may be grey=green to GIA, But Ill take an IGI color this time and call it turquoise.  Fantastic color.  Can you imagine that set with trills, maybe even e-w with top and bottom trills?

hello T where are you?  I want your opinion.....

I left this message for my buddy- the ex GIA instructor blue diamond expert-
"Can you please call this moron and tell me about boron"

Which he did.

The answer is: 99.99% of all blue diamonds, are thought to be blue due to the presence of boron.
When boron is present, it does something to the molecular structure- stabilizing it so that fluorescence is not possible.

BUT- there are a miniscule percentage of diamonds that are blue for other reasons- in those cases, fluorescence is possible.

Believe it or not, we have just such an example.....stay tuned......

I knew there had to be an answer! Thanks David.

Now this is an interesting stone. It's a gorgeous colour and the inclusions isn't bothering me. I like this very much! It seems like quite a good price for such a colour - is that because of the clarity? It would not bother me at all, because who's going to look past that gorgeous, ocean blue colour?

Given it's size and color, it shd be pretty hard to see the inclusions with the naked eye. I like the color and the shape.  Smiley

Sorry, I can't help myself... that really is just about my favorite color in the world. I don't mind the inclusions from the photo because the brown looks fabulous with the green! I'd have to see it in person, of course. MAybe even carry the diamond with me for a few months to get a true sense of how I REALLY feel.  Roll Eyes To be honest, I'd probably prefer a more traditional shape, but, given the color, who cares? I'm afraid that I'd take this over pink...

THAT is a cool diamond. I'm snagging it for the cool and unusual page. I love it. Absolutely love it.

And I will tell you that when David says he can't see an imperfection he means it. Marc and I could not see the imperfection in the booger diamond. I opened the parcel paper and was floored by that one. When D told me it was the booger diamond, my response was "NU uuuu".

Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!  Wouldja lookit this stuff?

I was looking at Seren's stock  and came across a few exceptions to the no fluor rule on blues...

Stats on the bluish-green/second  GIA attached:
Certificate:    GIA     Cert. Number:    16361884
Shape:    Radiant     Measurement:    6.27x5.25x3.60
Carat Weight:    1.00     Polish:    G
Color Origin:    Natural      Symmetry:    G
Color:    Fancy Light Bluish Green      Table:    59

Price PC:    35,000     Girdle:    ETN - VTK
Total Price:    35,000     Comments:

Sorry about the tables.  I couldn't make them set up properly.  By the way, neither picture was at all impressive, so I didn't bother bringing them in.  Oh, and neither GIA certificate appears to be a type II, which I've seen with 1 blue diamond with a non-boron matrix.

Now what the heck does blue fluor do to a blue diamond vs green fluor?  And what does green fluor look like anyway? Huh?
